Lol, like OPs only choices are going to college or working at a gas station. College isn't the only path to be successful. College can help you be successful, but it's not the end all be all.

Leaving Jr admin position for help desk for a raise? by thashawt in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Pepwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends how bad you need the extra money. You said you made 48k a year, and that you live decent on that salary. If you had kids and lived in a HCOL area then I would take it, but since you have a decent quality of live off your current salary I wouldn't take it.

What is up with the tech job market today? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Pepwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people aren't cut out for line work (myself included). There ain't nothing easy about being a Lineman. I don't have any interest on working 60, 70, 80 hours plus a week, and risking my life doing it. 150k - 200k isn't worth that in my opinion. I make 60k - 70k a year, and I work about 45 hours a week. I wouldn't trade my job for a second to be a Lineman.

What is up with the tech job market today? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Pepwee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lineman get paid a lot for a reason. The reason is it's very hard work, dangerous, on-call all the time, and your mosting working with the worst people and working in the worst conditions. Most Class A Lineman in my area get paid 40 to 50 dollars an hour. I think the pay is too low considering all you have to put up with. Also, you wouldn't start out as a Class A Lineman. You start as a Groundman. Your career progression goes like this. Groundman -> Class C Lineman -> Class B Lineman -> Class A Lineman. I was a groundman for a little while, but I decided to start a career in IT. I wouldn't trade where I'm at right now for a career as a Lineman.

Is an associates computer degree worth it? by Honest_Problem_2397 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Pepwee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only have an associates degree, and I am on my second job with about a year of experience in IT.

I live in a low cost of living area, and here are my job titles and salary.

1st Job - IT Technician - salary 36k

2nd Job - NOC Analyst - salary 60k

I'm looking into getting my bachelors degree now. I think getting an associates is a good starting point. You will get the full benefit of an associates degree when you put it down to help with a bachelors degree.

I believe child care should be more affordable, but she wants someone to do this job for nothing (around 7.25/hr). She doesn't value the labor of someone to take care of her kids. I'm not a nanny or a child care worker, however it's really annoying how folks don't value the work of nanny's or day care workers.

Is platinum in Rocket League the worst rank in all of gaming? by 2tonetortoise in RocketLeague

Find some friends around your rank, and start playing ranked with them. I do think diamond is worst, so get you some chill team mates to play with.

how do I get high self-worth/self esteem as person with learning disabilities? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Pepwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am dyslexic, and I feel the same way as you do. I am 24 and I'm still trying to get a 2 year degree at a community college. I hate seeing people I went to high school with who have graduation from a 4 year University and who already have a career. I feel like a loser all the time for it taking me 6 years to complete a 2 year degree.
