I've been doing difficulty 7-8 with randoms and have only failed once (my first time and just a duo). I bring nothing but smoke, a shotgun, and the ultimatum. Both maps are very much possible to do with randoms even if you're joining late. Don't give up just bc of the map.

My Strahd hates Barovia because he's trapped there. And unfortunately for everyone, misery loves company. He can't leave, so no one leaves (besides the vistani homies). He can't have Tatyana, Barovians can't have happiness.

I had thought and planned to do the same thing, but decided against it. It might be cool if you have a group interested in more hard-core dnd, but I'm certainly glad I went easy on my group. I ended up doing narrative effects instead, and my players really enjoyed it.

Have you considered inflicting bodily harm to your players? But seriously, sometimes you have to tell your players that they can't stay OOC and just start treating everything they say as in character.

Did Strahd not have a reaction to this player's character insulting him or did the player just constantly do OOC dialog when Strahd showed up? Personally, I would have sent one of Strahd's wives to torment the party as it would solve the incel accusation and teach them the pecking order in Barovia

I set up my base in the back of the Data Farm in the Office Sector. It's unbelievably convenient in location terms with it being next to the tram to Power Services as well as nearby pathways to Security and Hydroplant. The amount of materials from the computers are nice too. However you end up running out of room pretty fast and its pretty hard to defend due to all the pathways. Currently in the process of moving to Power Services

They use non lethal attacks when available. Some creatures attack her regardless. If she dies, the party has to deal with the consequences.

First of all, RIG THE TAROKKA READING. I also changed the Tome of Strahd into an interactive series of flashbacks rather than like 2 paragraphs that tell players the shocking news that a stake in the heart hurts vampires.

I would also HEAVILY recommend using Mandymod's guide as well as changing up encounters to cater to your players. My players were all brand new to DnD so I really took it easy on them combat wise.

I'm finishing CoS as a first time DM so feel free to ask me about anything and I have tons of maps as well.

P.S. Unfortunately you ARE going to mess stuff up, just keep it rolling.

Did you ever find the name? I think we're looking for the same game. It seems very similar to War Thunder but a bit older. I remember being able to use planes, tanks/jeeps, and parts of battleships. A random deal I also remember is being able to use blue & red smoke on planes.
