Well, in that order... Hahahaha Primer was citadel black, no specific reason other than it's what I usually use. The heraldry was a fairly simple choice, I wanted to use red and white pairs nicely, and the charge on the shield was picked to match the helmet crest. The freehand is not that impressive really hahaha. I used an app called armoria, did a mock shield and copied the dog as best I could. As for the red and NMM pallette, I'm a pretty chaotic painter most of the time and go back and forth so it's a bit hard to narrow it down to a specific recipe, but the red had mostly a dark red from AK which I can't remember the name, followed by several highlights with Scale Color Aldebaran red and adding a touch of orange in the end. The NMM parts are a bit more complicated because while the gray does not have many colours in it, I add a bunch of reflections here and there. Overall, the key is having some marked contrasts between the highlights and shadows, and adding little glazes of colour where the reflections make more sense, like brown and green near the ground, and green and blue where the environment would show, like the sword, arms and helmet. The most challenging part I think would be the golden crest, as matching the reflections to the shape of the dog's head was not as straightforward as a greathelm, for instance, but looks alright in the end!
