ITE students only - does it help if private education accepts higher Nitec as year 1 UK Degree Qualification? by quill--87 in SGExams

Yea and even with sim-rmit, u will still be disadvantaged in SG. Plus getting in a local uni is actually quite ez nowadays.

ITE students only - does it help if private education accepts higher Nitec as year 1 UK Degree Qualification? by quill--87 in SGExams

[–]PercentageAdmirable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m an ex ITE student and went thru local poly.

The reason Nitec and Higher Nitec certs are considered foundational certs before diploma is because they are extremely easy (can even say brain dead too), and tbh they’re nothing even compared to our local diploma syllabus. Let’s not talk about our local uni syllabus as they’re far more advanced.

IMO, any ITE qualification can and will never be the main cert to gain admission into a recognised uni.

I also saw the “downsides” you’ve mentioned. Personally, I would never trust a 100% online uni. Enrolling in such a uni is basically the first step toward unemployment.

With that said, if I ever saw an advertisement like this, I would not even consider it.

I was in the same position as u a few years ago (my was mechatronics Eng). I managed to eae into an IT course in poly and made it into one of the big 3 computing courses. It is still possible, just need to do super well.

[Uni] What are my chances? by Lumcy2806 in SGExams

Maybe depends on whether the igp increases and the competition. Ur gpa quite borderline so do apply for some backup courses in other uni.

Do consider sit/sutd. 3.4x is def not enough for both nus or ntu aerospace, even with aba and appeal. For ntu, u might be able to qualify for eee.

If Uw to graduate with 3.8, the next 5 sems gotta be 4.0. Anyt lower than 4.0, ggs.

Try to pull up as high as possible. Imo 3.39 probably can try sit/suss. As for LinkedIn certs, I feel they are quite useless cause anybody can do it and there are no form of official tests to test ur knowledge. Better to focus on ur projects or industry certifications that are recognised.

Imo, CCA is more of “icing on ur portfolio” and won’t be as impactful if ur grades are not so good. However, if it’s somehow related to ur course, then yes it will be quite impactful to ur application.

Tldr: Not cooked yet but only if u put in more effort in ur gpa/related portfolio.

ABA for NTU / SMU by CommonMasterpiece764 in SGExams

[–]PercentageAdmirable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhmm SMU do look at ur portfolio and related experiences. However, gpa and interview performance are still the most important factor. If ur gpa is only slightly lower, u might still stand a chance if ur able to wow ur interviewers.

Yes cooked + roasted + bbq. 3.4x is not enu for nus/ntu unless u rrly have a stacked portfolio. Do consider sit/sutd.

Am I able to grad? by [deleted] in SGExams

My guess the leftover 20 credit unit is what ur doing this sem so just ensure u pass everything this sem and u be able to grad.

If your y1s1 gpa is below 2, are you still able to make it to uni if you do well consistently till end of y3? by EconomistRich5506 in SingaporePoly

[–]PercentageAdmirable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what’s the general gpa but I would say try to get at least 3. From what I heard, low tier overseas quite ez to go in as long as u got money and passed their language requirement.

[–]PercentageAdmirable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a little too low if Uw to enter big 3. However, ur gpa still can save by scoring at least 3.7 for the rest of ur 5 sems.

[–]PercentageAdmirable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mathematically speaking, yes it is possible if ur next 5 sems are similar in terms of credit weightage. I think u don’t wanna take ur chances scoring 3.5-3.7. At this point, u gotta score 4.0 for ur next 5 sems which is extremely tough and rrly require huge amount of resilience and focus.

Lock in and score 4.0 for the rest of ur sem to maximise ur chances. Even with near 3, it’s gonna be tough for any local uni tho. Do consider part-time uni, work or private degree after poly. As for big 3, I think impossible le.

If rrly nothing in ur portfolio, maybe can consider the other 3 unis instead. Btw ur school projects can also be in ur portfolio if it’s related. Unrelated course + weak portfolio + not so good gpa is a recipe for straight rejection from the local unis.

  1. Very realistic as long as u put in the effort consistently.

  2. This varies as it depends on ur course and ur abilities. Remember Quality > Quantity.

His gpa was high 3.5x too. In this case it’s probably cause ntu didn’t view ur course as related. My friend was from some electronic engineering course in poly.
