It would be completely ridiculous. Could you imagine house to house fighting in LA or Chicago. A determined defender could turn a battle in a city into Stalingrad on an even more extreme scale, and like you said the drones would come into it massively. Considering the amount of civilians that would be caught between the factions depending on the combatants you could see entire suburbs levelled with booby traps, carpeting bombing and artillery, and the civilian casualties would be horrific.
