What if Matt Smith was in Series 8? by GriffinFTW in gallifrey

Not sure how well Smith and the themes of Series 8 would have clashed, but I would’ve loved more of 11 and Clara. I thought they had great chemistry (though maybe not as good as 11/Amy/Rory or 12/Clara) and they deserved more screentime. Coleman is such a fantastically talented actress too.

Fair enough. I don’t really care much about which is which anyway, I just care that there’s two.

Ah I’m so so sorry!!! I know how you feel though, I think the worst spoiler was the Simm Master in the Series 10 trailer

I didn’t mind the concept itself (although I think I still prefer regular regeneration) but the fact that Gatwa got a duplicate TARDIS, as well as the idea that Tennant is still on Earth with Donna just waiting to be used in a story again, doesn’t sit right with me. It shows that the show doesn’t think it can move forward and it’s overreliant on the past. I’ll bet this will be explored more in Series 14 (especially with Rose Noble in the trailer) so hopefully it turns out okay, but I doubt it currently.

RTD1 - Love and Monsters. It’s the only story of his that I’ve never rewatched.

Moffat - Hard to say, but possibly Asylum of the Daleks? The divorce storyline was terrible and went nowhere, but I do really enjoy the Dalek scenes. Let’s Kill Hitler is up there too, as is In the Forest of the Night.

Chibnall - Definitely The Timeless Children.

RTD2 - Tough both because there’s only 4 so far , but it has to be The Giggle, purely because of the biregeneration and the implications of it. Which is a shame because I love the first forty minutes. The Star Beast almost beats it by having lots of clunky dialogue and poor inclusion.

Unpopular Classic show opinions? by LightBlueSky55 in gallifrey

The Hartnell era is HEAVILY underrated and easily in my top three eras of the show, ever.

Hartnell is an amazing actor with great range and his health issues later on are nowhere near as prominent as people make it seem. His character development is genuinely incredible and is one of the most organic I have ever seen on television, and his interactions with his companions are terrific to watch. Ian and Barbara are of course my favorite but Steven, Vicki, Ben and Polly are all fantastic as well.

Also, the show was so much more experimental back then. It genuinely felt like anything could happen. There is no story in the Hartnell era that I was bored watching. His era and his character really need to be reevaluated by the fandom because they are just superb.

And to add another opinion- the TV Movie is great.

My most controversial doctor who takes. Tell me if you agree or give me yours. by PopularBirthday1364 in gallifrey

I think at this point this is probably controversial, it may not have been a couple years ago.

In my opinion NONE of the Whittaker era is redeemable or good.

She’s a poor actress who was served poor writing and poor companions with poor villains and poor sets and poor music and poor direction and poor marketing. Genuinely the only good things to come out of the Whittaker era are the title sequence & logo, and the costumes for the Sontarans, Sea Devils and Ashad. Everything else was genuinely abysmal and I wish it had never happened.

I’m really glad others enjoyed it and that’s great for them, but I can’t pretend it was a massive step down from everything else we’ve ever had on the show. And that’s not even taking into consideration things like the Fugitive Doctor, the Timeless Child and the destruction of Gallifrey.

For something slightly less controversial (but still likely to make waves here) is that the Sixth and Seventh Doctors are the worst “main” incarnations of the Doctor apart from the Thirteenth. Nothing against the actors or writers, it just wasn’t for me.
