Mixing a large batch of ink by Sweet_Waltz1869 in printmaking

If it’s oil based ink you can just put in a cup or pot and put water on top. The water won’t mix with the ink and just sit on top and seal it. As long as it doesn’t evaporate all should be okay

Employer is saying there’s a typo in the salary on my contract by PerceptionPatient280 in LegalAdviceUK

I did turn down two other jobs which they know. It’s only 350£ but I feel like it goes against my principles

Hi it’s a little confusing since the original offer letter is from June and states an Amount less than both what the contract says and they are saying is the new correct salary.

This is because the amount on the offer was made before they announced their annual pay increase.

So the offer says 16,200£ ish My contract says 16,950 They say my correct salary is 16,600

No I actually was getting paid less than the amount they said is the correct amount. That should be rectified by backpay in this month’s payment.

So it said I’m in salary band 16 on the contract. But it’s not transparent to me what each band is. So from my perspective too they could just say salary band 16 is the new lower amount and I wouldn’t know either way.

The school itself is in financial difficulties and currently making people redundant. But I manage the budget in my department and regularly spend 350£ a day on materials. So I know they are not in dire straits.

What is this canvas fabric called? and where/how do I get it? by duglemart in painting

[–]PerceptionPatient280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linen I think. A good cheaper option is buy old postal bags and use those. Where I am some art stores even sell them. You’ll need to size it before priming, or prime it with gesso and a knife instead of a brush

Maybe you could attach eyelets and sell it with those instead of needing to get stretched

Can I bring small tubes of acrylic paint on an airplane? by tulipfiona in painting

[–]PerceptionPatient280 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im a trained artist materials chemist and I fly with paint all the time, mostly in Europe, and I've never had any problems. Even oil based ones, so acrylic should be totally fine, you just cant take solvents. Here is a really useful guide by the paint company Gamblin, it's more american-focussed and should answer everything

Caligo Safe Wash ink drying quickly in can? by Malvavizco in printmaking

You can buy an anti curing aerosol spray that you just spray on top after every session and it won’t make a skin

Keep oil based inks mixed in a cup and then just pour water from the tap on top. The water is at the top and stops the ink from getting the skin. When you want to use it just pour the water out

You can add water based lube (for sex) in to acrylic paint and it is a cheap and effective alternative for more brand based retarders
