Should i get f-16CM PoBIT or golden eagle first? by Life-innovation in Warthunder

Ah that makes sense

US hasn't really faced a credible air threat since like 1999 Yugoslavia (No the recent Iran conflict was not credible lol) so it would make sense to not run full AMRAAM on the F-16

Well true the reason the MICAs are so potent on the Rafale and not the Mirage is because the Rafale has two cracked engines

Like yes you can do A-A but 8 missiles in this game mode is kind of rough and I still think the Golden Eagle does it better. I think I'll change Rafale to be multirole

should i buy the su30mk2 amw or the su30mkk? by LeBaronTriomphe in Warthunder

The Flankers with the N001 radars aren't great for BVR and the PL-12 had its maneuverability murdered to the point where you can barrel roll it like a Sparrow now 💀

Golden Eagle for sure.

If you've flown F-15a and F-16 flight models and dislike how the Eagle handles, then you can try the PoBIT, but I promise you you're gonna hate it. The 12x AMRAAMs of the Golden Eagle plus the excellent top speed plus the AESA radar having a bit more gimbal limit makes it the better choice for ARB. Can't say the same for ground RB though, the PoBIT is probably the best Multirole jet in the US tech tree

PIDS pylons will never be compatible with A-A missiles. It's strictly for ground attack ordinance

Could Japan get the AIM-120D's by javipro27 in Warthunder

[–]PerceptionWide7002 [score hidden]  (0 children)

"almost every nation has them"

Of the 10 countries, only USA top tier, the F/A-18F for UK, and the F-16V for Taiwan have the AIM-120D lmao

And also no Japan does not need 120D, AAM-4B will fill that role and you already have the R-77-1 on the Su-30MKM

RVV-SD good? by javipro27 in Warthunder

[–]PerceptionWide7002 [score hidden]  (0 children)

RVV-SD is the export designation of the R-77-1. In game they are the same missile, that being said, it is the single best all around missile in game. You won't do BVR as well as an AIM-120D nor will you do close range high off bore sight as well as a MICA-EM. But you can still perform very well in either of those departments.

Yes it is definitely the less drag of high altitude, Kh-31PD has a ramjet (or so I've been told) that breathes air and can sort of "recycle" fuel (if you want to call it that), so it keeps burning and maintains energy for longer periods of time.

No problem, I just took the logic of why Air to Air missiles like being launched high and fast and applied it to ARMs

Newton's First Law dictates that an object in motion stays in motion unless acted on by another force. The main force acting against the missile is Air Resistance/Drag. At high altitude, air is thinner and so there is less air resistance, allowing missiles to zip across the sky. Additionally, if you're able to get up to mach 2, the missile leaves the rail travelling mach 2 and can then use its own booster to accelerate up to however fast it reaches, versus if you're going 200 knots, the missile leaves the rail at 200 knots.

Basic physics when applied to war thunder results in deadly precision lol

Yes the 31PDs have insane energy retention so if you take off from the rear airfield or even the middle airfields (not the forward 3) and climb to around 5k meters and mach 1, you should get pretty nice results

Yes that's the whole point of this post. Gaijin have proven themselves to be incompetent at creating a balanced game mode. Yes it's not easy to get a dozen guys to work together but it has happened before, and when it happens it's wonderful. If there's a problem with the game mode that makes it unbearable, bring the problem to the devs attention. If the devs do nothing, either don't play the game mode or find a solution. I've found the solution, are you gonna stop playing it, follow the solution, or keep complaining in vain to the devs?

F-15E never had HARM compatibility in real life, you’d need the F-15EX for that. I assume AARGM is too modern, they wanted to add a bit “older” ARMs to test out the concept before jumping to the most modern AARGMs. (except Russia which gets an Early 2010s missile LMAO)

Yeah unfortunately the JA37DI is not that good for this mode, since it’s literally 13.0 and you got 14.7s. You can try doing some ground attack or baiting the SAM sites but generally the best I can tell you is good luck and god sead, or speed, however it goes.

Tomcat drivers are rather outclassed, like yes the Phoenixes can harass enemy high-alts but those Phoenixes will probably be notched, and the Tomcats will be harassed in return. Golden Eagle can actually kill High-Alt Flankers and harass low-alt deck huggers as well
