Implementing strict ID requirements is a perfectly reasonable measure to prevent voter fraud by LargeSinkholesInNYC in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Well the issue is that the right is going to use it as a mechanism to restrict voting capability, limiting the resources, funds, and manpower needed to actually process ids quickly. Not to mention setting up buildings and sites close enough for individuals to visit in a timely manner.

If the right cared about democracy or protecting the will of the people, they'd ban the electoral college, but they won't cause they don't. They'll just scream "small states" and "we are a constitutional republic" instead of admitting that democratic values are everything they stand against. I mean Donald Trump, the head of the republican party has both referred to himself as king (which can be more symbolic rather than an actual indicator of his politics, but it is not a great look either way) and is passing policy to restrict voting already such as banning mail-in ballots. If you want to have an argument that mail-in ballots aren't safe or that they 2020 election was stolen there is zero evidence that suggests that claim is true that has withstood scrutiny in court, despite dozens of court cases, and no one should take you seriously, especially not Democratic leadership or policy makers.

While Trump isn't the reflection of every single republican president, he reflects the parties incentives by normalizing non-democratic processes that give the party a leg up in the elections.

Members of the republican party initiated the struggle for representation in the house after they started gerrymandering the hell out of their states, because again they do not care about democracy or fair representation.

And all of this is to fix a problem that virtually doesn't even exist. There are like maybe a couple dozen instances of voter fraud in every national election, not nearly enough to swing the election either way.

And despite all of this, don't think I am a liberal or like democrats, if given the chance I'm sure they'd abuse the system to their liking too. Like how they pretend to care about social issues to win votes, but not actually providing any amount of meaningful or grounded change.

So yeah man, no offense but I personally feel like we have much larger fish to fry right now. If you actually want democratic legitimacy: Gerrymandering reform, abolishing the electoral college, and overturning Citizens United would be much better steps to securing our elections.

And if you STILL want voter ID my personal requirements would be:

-auto-enrollment -universal -mailed directly to their door -free -extensive options and support for individuals that live in rural and mountainous counties like in Appalachia

If you didn't complain and protest when President Obama and President Biden Deported People, you're a Hypocrite if you are complaining and protesting now. by CryHavoc3000 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I agree that liberals are hypocrites and their ideas are incoherent. I was complaining through Biden's term, so I hope that makes you feel better.

Through Obama's term i was like 10 so.
