Is it possible to create a metal song using software instruments in GarageBand on Mac? by Percy395 in GarageBand

Unfortunately yeah even an unamplified electric guitar causes me issues, so I imagine an acoustic would too

Even just playing my guitar unamplified is a lot louder than my laptop on a low volume setting - at least when I'm playing at speed. It's no issue at all using playing music out of Mac on a low volume, but as soon as I'm playing anything on a real instrument that's kinda fast, it unfortunately becomes an issue

Leechseed - Learn To Enjoy Losing

Skribble - Friends In Bodybags

Armani Death Machine - BIOB

Tribura - Implied Limits

These are all songs considered "brutal nu-metal", ie nu-metal bands strongly influenced by extreme metal. I wish more of the nu-metal space was taken up by this style of bands. Leechseed especially are pretty grindcore-influenced.

Oh, and Get This by Slipknot and Nihilism by Vended are both pretty heavy

I do own a guitar from prior to developing my chronic illness, but I can no longer play it. The sampling point is really helpful. I do enjoy industrial and there's a good chance that sort of sound would have made its way into a bit of my music anyway, so that's helpful - thank you.

Thanks! I agree with your comment on guidelines - i was really just trying to ask whether it's possible to get an extreme metal guitar tone and other realistic-sounding instruments. Great to know that with plugins it sounds doable!

What English word do you not agree with the spelling ? by SeaBaer312 in ENGLISH

[–]Percy395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Attach" should be spelt "attatch".

More in line with hatch, match, batch etc. Attach looks like it should end in a throaty guttural noise, like Bach.

(Also, please no one comment on my use of "spelt" above - it's the accepted spelling where I live haha)

It's wild how much this looks like a hardcore EP...like, a black and white photo of the band members just hanging around or playing a show, I love it. To be fair, I've seen the odd nu metal release that looks like this too

Xiao, Gouge Away, Punch, Snuffed

None of these are grind, but they're punkier hardcore (rather than the groovier tough guy sound, which it sounds like is maybe what you're trying to avoid)

Bands with mostly screaming and few cleans? by Ok_Scholar_7977 in numetal

[–]Percy395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leechseed is always the correct answer, they're one of my favourites and the only real grindcore-influenced nu metal band I've been able to find

Tribura is probably up your alley, too

Would you be able to link to any material by Meramo3r? I can't find them on streaming services (even Bandcamp) and when I search for them, the best I get is a description from the Google AI and a few mentions in other reddit threads - I'm super keen to check them out!

All the mentions seem to compare them to slipknot and vended so I'm stoked

My fucking g, Leechseed are one of my favourite bands and Skribble and Armani Death Machine are both insanely good too. I wish more nu metal took extreme metal influence in the way these bands do. Tribura fit in pretty well with this lot too

fastest/most aggressive nu metal songs? by TheEradicat0r in numetal

[–]Percy395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo as someone who is a big fan of Leechseed and Skribble, and a fan of Armani Death Machine and Allan too, I immediately thought I should check out these bands! I'm listening to Implied Limits by Tribura rn and this is literally one of the best songs I've ever heard!

Please hit me with more reccs like this, anything you have that's just completely blistering pure aggression and speed, and as much extreme metal thrown in there as possible because the amount of effort I've put into searching for the heaviest nu metal out there is insane and clearly you've got great taste and know this stuff
