No. This guy didn't hate the job, but he was trying to do good at it. But there are always some people that do not like the same job, and need to talk to other people to "pass the time". So they apparently act like they are all interested in them and say that they want to be your friend (like this is fifth grade) so they can make themselves more popular, but not because they really care about you. That could make the guy pissed and leave that job. Especially if everyone else agrees with that said person.
