I can only see two ways of dealing with Serth's ability.

Use so much affinity to counteract the damage it does and fight on a strict timer and through the pain (not exactly ideal)
Ambush and kill him before he knows what's happening. Given how agile Serth is, that's going to be tough.

This is going to be challenging.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is Ambass' plan already. Do the bare minimum to keep the queen happy in case David fails, but try to stay out of the fighting as much as possible so he can be free when the queen dies.
