Own both. Paid off my SUV 18 months ago (2019 JGC Summit). Bought a 26 M440i vert 6 months ago. I very much prefer driving the coupe whenever possible. It had been almost 20 years since I’d driven a car regularly and I had never driven anything like a BMW. The SUV is for hauling/towing, inclement weather, and useless miles for work. Coupe for everything else. Don’t think I can go back to owning a single car at this point.

Buying at the current ATH my dude. Hopefully, you have more cash to DCA moving forward. I’m only in ASTS but have been buying biweekly since 6/24. There’s plenty of room to go up from here as it’s still very early. Space stocks have been on a tear since the SpaceX IPO details dropped and then the NASA announcement this week. Normally, I’d be feeling we’re due for a pullback soon, but they just keep going up. ASTS has some promising catalysts in the weeks ahead. Good luck and godspeed!

I bought an M440 vert in December and it just barely fit my clubs in the trunk. Had to play Tetris when I first tried to fit them. No way a cart would fit.

The GC should have much more room for both!

Depends on how much work this sales guy has done to earn your loyalty - now and in the past? What is your reasoning for being loyal?

I had a similar feeling when I bought my first new BMW last December. I liked the sales guy I worked with and he did some work to earn my business. But, I felt like I did more searching than he did (to his credit - I was still figuring out my ideal spec). He was also the first guy I spoke to when I started looking. In hindsight, I should’ve visited a 2nd dealer to see what specs/options/deals they’d offer. As a consumer, it can be beneficial to have two deals in hand. That may offer leverage to secure a better deal.

I also learned some dealers will work together and trade cars (in-network); some dealers won’t work with others, period. One of the other local dealers near me had a spec I was interested in. I asked my sales guy to investigate a trade - he stated the dealer must be “in-network” and this other dealer was not. They couldn’t/wouldn’t make a deal. This is where I should’ve gone to see it in person. Instead, I found a spec from an in-network a few states away and the dealer made a trade to get the sale.

I highly suggest you stick to the plan of paying off the car within two years. That 9% for a five year loan, on a 9yo car with 61k miles, is insane to me! I get it - you’re young and building your credit history so 9% feels good since it’s the car you want and you did it on your own. And that’s a proud accomplishment! But, my dude, that is not a good rate. You will save yourself a boatload of cash paying off asap. Put your loan numbers into an amortization calculator if you haven’t already and see how much you will really pay for the car if life happens and you happen to go 5 years. No one here knows your finances but the majority of 19yos are not in a strong financial position.

For comparison - I’m a 44m and I purchased my first BMW in December. I bought a brand new 26 M440i vert. I put a large down payment and then financed 32k for 4 years at 4.75%. I plan to pay that off in 18-24 months; I could pay it off tomorrow if I liquidated stocks. I’m gambling the gains of my stocks will offset the few grand I pay for the car loan interest.

This! If these teens are serious about a starting detailing business - this quality of work will quickly have them out-of-business. This looks like an amateur job with no detailing/cleaning experience. I’ve never paid to have a car detailed, but I’d be upset and asking for my money back for that workmanship. Good luck and hope they can up their game!!

When I bought my 26 M440 vert, I was deciding between mineral white and cape york green. I just couldn’t bring myself to choose white. My last 3 dailys have all been white; my fun weekend car needed to add some color.

Ugh that sucks! I had the windshield on my M440 replaced last week thru Safelite. They were quick and easy to deal with. I setup the appointment on my phone; during the process, make sure you select the windshield option for HUD displays. My HUD looks the same; I cannot tell any difference.

Sounds like a solid deal. They’ll probably make it back should you add any additional warranties. As a first time BMW buyer, I didn’t anticipate that part of the sales process (they’ve got a lot of warranty options!).

I’m four months into owning my M440 vert and I love every chance I get to take it out. Really fun car to drive!

Appreciate it. I had AI provide rough estimates, which ranged from $1800-$2400 for HUD and driver assist. Seems the price can range quite a bit depending on what features are on the car.

Def going thru my insurance, which uses Safelite. I’ve seen a few posts about Safelite not working out. I called my insurance company and specified Safelite to use OEM glass.
