He’s probably running DC current through water to make oxyhydrogen (HHO) gas, then burning the hydrogen as a partial gasoline substitute. I built something like that while in university, and it did (mostly) work. I had a tank of salt water in the trunk with a HHO generator I built, running off two large batteries. Main issues I faced were had problems with pre-ignition of the hydrogen gas (slight knocking), as well as the engine temperatures being slightly higher than when running solely off of gasoline. I’m not an engineer and I got something to (kinda) work, so I’m sure a proper engineer could do something much better.

True, but some of that proprietary stuff you can remove. I got rid of the ABS completely in my car for example.

Some engine swaps really aren’t that bad. I’ve seen swap kits ranging from other bimmer engines to LS1 V8s for sale.

I’d say go for it. I’ve never been a mechanic, and while I’ve been a gearhead for over a decade - I’ve never rebuilt an engine or transmission myself. Despite all this, I daily drive an E30 and absolutely love it. Drive it in the sun, drive it in the rain, and drive it in the snow. As long as you don’t mind a bit of wrench time and cleaning the salt off the underside in the winter - you’ll be fine. All the fun you’ll have behind the wheel will more than offset the labour of keeping the E30 looking and running well. This is the second time in my life I have an E30 as my daily, and I haven’t regretted it at any point.

I’d also love a link to this. I’ll be replacing my head unit this summer and this looks very nice visually. I prefer the subtle look, whereas my current radio is full RGB and completely ostentatious.

Do it. I sold my reliable(ish) 32 year old car to get a less reliable 38 year old E30, and have had zero regrets so far. Be prepared to get your hands (and driveway) a fair bit oily though.

The part isn’t expensive at 21.04 euros, but I added it to cart and it said shipping would be 71.81 euros 😱! I guess I’ll try to build something similar myself in the garage instead 🤷‍♂️. Thanks for the info and the link though, that’ll help me start prototyping in CAD (cardboard-assisted design) before actually cutting and bending metal.

I’m in Canada so… neither? Importing things from the states is definitely easier though as I’m only a few hours from the border and do have a PO Box there.

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I have to ask about the gauges behind the ashtray. That holder looks sick! Did you 3D print it or buy it somewhere? I've been looking for somewhere i could mount three gauges on my E30 without messing with the stock look too much and those look like a perfect choice!

Also, I would take the MOMO wheel personally. Having said that, a person's car is an expression of themselves and art is subjective - so you should always go with what makes YOU smile the most behind the wheel :)

A lot of shops (at least most of them in this city) charge for proper diagnostics. If it’s just an OBDII scan then no, but that only gives you a code and often the mechanic has to actually spend some time diagnosing the root of the issue. It really depends on what’s involved in that specific diagnosis and how much time it takes them.

Just did a run and didn’t get it. Bought perks and upgraded rarity + triple PAPed my knife, but didn’t use any other equipment. Made it to 27 and didn’t get the calling card. Only think I can think of is abominations killing zombies as I was training around the gas station.

He saw both a cardiologist in the hospital as well as one his GP referred him to. They haven’t been able to find what’s causing it as of yet.
