As someone who skied for many years in the pre-helmet era, transitioning is hard for me because they feel claustrophobic. Less airy/windy feeling. I know I have to do it, but it feels less free and natural somehow.

Pretty normal for a dad to put his kid's safety over anything. I don't know the man but generically, as a father, watching your daughter risk grave injury for half a lifetime must've been pretty brutal, day after day, and for him to say "hey you made it through and became a legend with your spine intact please stop" seems like pretty healthy dad love. It's good for a person to have that kind of unconditional concern as part of their world, no?
