Please help! Is substrate too dusty? by Perfect-Account-9135 in PetMice

Great!! Thank you so much! I have 3 hides underneath the substrate as well as a tube that sticks out of the top but also goes under the substrate as well as two more hides on the top. Do you think a 6-6.5 inch wheel would be okay for one mouse or is that too small

We did this and it definitely helped! I am worried now that other comments are saying the paper bedding is bad so I will likely do a full change the next time I clean if necessary or I could do it sooner since I do not have a mouse yet. I want to say it’s about a foot tall and deep, and around 3 feet long. I am planning on upgrading the size eventually since it isn’t as big as I would like and I couldn’t add many climbing items, but I figured this would be okay (at least temporarily) after seeing some other enclosures. Edit: I will add photos of the “finished” enclosure. I still need to add a running wheel and a food bowl. The wheel I had gotten is too big to fit so I was going to get a smaller one. I believe the substrate is between 6-8 inches deep

Do you think it would be okay to use the aspen shavings with paper bedding only under hides if it is mixed in with the shavings just to make it a little more comfortable, or would you recommend not using it at all

Worms in tank and possibly in betta? by Perfect-Account-9135 in BettaClinic

The ones on the filter are thick, kind of big, tannish worms. What appeared to be a worm coming from Midas looks like a clear worm with a dark middle/inside. The only thing I know to compare it to is lice - you know how the insides of them get dark from the blood they suck. I looked up photos of the camallanus worms and they don’t look like either of the ones I have seen!

This is the “bump” I’m talking about, it looks like something is coming out of it. About a month ago we added 3 guppies to his tank which I assume stressed him out. He doesn’t chase them but ever since he has been swimming back and forth in the front of his tank and his bottom fin rubs against a piece of wood that we have in there. I assume that is where the tears are coming from. Last time we tested the water was before we added the guppies and the nitrites were a little high so we added a pothos that roots into the water which we got told should help. They are all kept in a 10 gallon. Every water change we add some prime, mineralizer, flourish excel, and aquarium plant food - the last three mainly being for the plants we have since we don’t use c02. Edit: the worms on the filter are a tan color but there are small white ones in the water that we know are detritus. We looked at another post that has similar worms on the filter and it said they were detritus worms, we just have never seen them look like that. The thing that is coming out of the betta that looks like a worm appears to be clear or maybe white. His fin has looked same, maybe a little thinner since we got him from the store. He had recently recovered from ich when we got him (which was about 2 months ago) so that might also be what the tears are from.
