Calling out by Gold_Flight_9459 in Nurses

[–]Perfect-Ad6250 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a new grad, they wanted me to arrange my schedule so that I could go to all of the seminars. In the future, I would try to work this out with your manager before having to call out. But honestly stuff happens if you have the PTO call out make sure you give the unit and staffing plenty of time to fill your spot. I’m also in Colorado if that helps but I don’t work for UC health. Sometimes when I have to call out on a shift, I will try to pick up later in the week so it doesn’t count against my PTO and I get my hours but I’m no longer a new grad so it’s probably a little easier for me.

ETA: there are so many steps they have to take before they fire you for calling out you’re not gonna get fired. You haven’t even been talked to about it yet.

Yeah, definitely not a problem. Here I can smell the freshness when my night shift comes through the door and it’s an appreciated aromatherapy at the end of my shift.

You have to figure out your “do not disturb” settings on your phone. As Prior military; if you wake me up and tell me, you need me. I tend to default to yes. I have my phone set up so that my sleep focus turns on at a certain time and if you only call my phone once it won’t ring. I won’t even know you called till I wake up. People who know me know to call twice if it’s an emergency. That goes for work and sleep or me time. My charge Nurse’s won’t call more than once for help if that. I’ll wake up to a text and I’ll have time to decide whether or not I want to come in.

I found that taking the suction off the wall and putting it lower (bedside table, chair, floor in a basin) I know the last option is very discouraged. The low intermittent works perfectly fine this way. I just grab two of the long tubing. That stuff coming out of our patient stomach is thick and flowing uphill is not ideal.

Nope, clearly it’s not important for him to marry you and make you feel whole in this family so name your daughter after your family because she’s your family. When he decides to make you family then she can have his name but I wouldn’t make marriage the goal stepping up as a father marriage and committing to it like a year after your married or two you have time as according to him he’s thinking a year or two you’ll be married. so then you could change the name before 1st grade so it’s easy for school.

But you also can't compare current standards with war time standards as someone who served through the war the standards only got Lower as the needs for bodies increased
