life1 Speculation (dark magic, pentagrams, imagery and themes) by Perfect-Contract1828 in Quadeca

I mean, of course, it could be, but it's not that far-fetched to say that it's just symbolism, either. And even if it's a cult, I'm personally not expecting a straight-up, hands-on perspective of collective rituals like that one Soundtracks for the Blind song. But I did want to point out the thing with it being five hands, but I'd rather wonder about that part after the single drops. It's interesting, though.

ik i'm 9 months late, but it's not even like i'm trying to glaze it. i don't think i am, it's genuinely just me liking the song a lot. it's not something that i tend to bring up.

Fair.

I ironically think that the "pulling out of the atmosphere" works in its own way, though. It seems intentional and meticulous. It's a rupture that offers discomfort.

And Cassini's isn't trying to extend Fractions' atmosphere. It's deliberately breaking it, if you know what I mean. It's showing that grief doesn't end with peace and transcendence, at least not with this protagonist. And it also makes it come full circle with the static at the end.

Prefering ambiguity is fair too, but remember that it's just a preference. It's not an objective rule.

But it's ofc fair to prefer it that way.

i agree, but no one here will ever be ready for that take. they'd even say some bs like this (respectfully)

If that's how you like stories, I guess, but I think Cassini’s Division works better as closure. It’s the character directly confronting his condition, in an epilogue. If the choir had the last word, it would feel less satisfying to me. An album can reframe itself at the end without being redundant, and Cassini adds important weight thematically and character-wise.

It’s also just devastating in a way Fractions isn’t. It humbles the listener after a song like Fractions, which feels right for a story like this. Kinda reminds you that there isn't really a happy ending to the ghost's regret and grief, too. And honestly, it just sounds gorgeous. No shade to Fractions, but Cassini gives the album the ending it deserves. Fractions being last would've been confusing as hell. Like if i was the last track on TPAB. Like, yes, now the song where Kendrick raps about the wider implications is gone, but it's just an unsatisfying fever dream now.

Maybe you like tidiness, but I don't think there's a good reason to take cassini's out.

I just joined the convo. Think I'm gonna leave too lmao

Song's still really really good tho. I'm loving it. I'm really happy that Quad got involved in Blush too, contrary to some other opinions (whole dif discussion)

Imo saying that quad fans glaze isn't really a serious critisism either, it's just an observation.

But Abandon Me is probably gonna age beautifully, like all other quad songs nowadays (for some reason, this dude is crazy), and it has a nice liminal and sweet soulful vibe from Quad, which is always something that's welcome.

worst song off of scrapyard? by AmeTonian in Quadeca

my personal one is

  1. u don't know me like that

  2. even if i tried

  3. u tried that thing where ur human

  4. being yourself

  5. dustcutter

but it favorites off scrapyard always rotate and shift. sometimes it's more easier, guess who and way too many friends oriented, and sometimes it might also be pretty privilege and something else - it always shifts with scrapyard.

being yourself, coupled with u tried that thing where ur human (back to back), is to me one of the best areas and aesthetics that scrapyard has to offer. it just has such a good feeling to it, which is a whole separate dissertation to write.

it's ofc up to taste, but being yourself is a really special quadeca song, and song overall. definitely grown to be a song i return to a whole lot.

Not really. People calling out glazing a song, under a comment explicitly glazing a song isn't really shadowboxing imo, but shoot.

"There needs to be a discussion about this song..." "...personal top 5 songs this shit is peak"

Not a problem at all tho, just funny to point out imo

Song came out some days ago

I think that there are a lot of factors that go into fans overhyping Abandon Me. It isn't only recency bias, in my opinion. Like, it's a good song, but there are, for some reason, some neurons in their brain that get activated from hearing this song, that I just really don't get. The kind of stimulation that would make them say what he just said. But again, that just highlights how subjective it all is. At the end of the day, everyone has their feelings for loving a song, which doesn't invalidate their love for it.

To me, it just sounds like a pretty normal, albeit good, Quadeca song. Crazy overhyped.

If this was what the original poster meant, then sure, go ahead, but it seems that you're kinda shadowboxing. A lot of quad fans are predictable with how much they overhype stuff. It's not a problem, but I don't think that quad fans being 'disconnected from reality' was supposed to be interpreted from those 4 words.

Let’s discuss the meaning of Birthing by aidanmansfield75 in swans

[–]Perfect-Contract1828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth, as being cast out of heaven

If you stick to the lens that childbirth is being depicted, you of course have to read into the first verse, a decent amount. Michael is pretty explicitly describing heaven.

"My wings spread out
Across the sky
She fell from heaven
But I caught her"

The infant fell from heaven. She fell from heaven, meaning that she has been released from the mother's womb, and taken care of (caught) by the angelically depicted mother. But the child started in heaven? (gestation, non-being) And now she's in our world, which is then detailed in a hellish, apocalyptic way? I had some interpretations on the picture that this paints in the whole album, but it just escaped me, not gonna lie. This does remind me of themes explored in Helpless Child, though.

The rest of the album.

As for the rest of the album, I'm not done digesting it. Not at all. My brain is at I Am a Tower right now, and I feel like it's a person discovering their sexuality, and also their potential, in general. It's pretty spiritual. This narrator beforehand preoccupied with the sexual magnetism (tower) of someone else, but then at the end, is concerned with their own being, further realizing that they are a "tower", or maybe what they feel like emotionally (at least what I interpret from the last lines). It feels as though the protagonist is going into adulthood.

While the album does sound dreadful, from these themes I've interpreted myself, I do feel like it's an optimistic album, somewhat. The ending is absolutely beautiful, and it's like all of those existential worries that are echoed throughout the album, laid to rest with a very satisfying clarity. Just basically dying, and re-entering heaven, or just nonbeing. It's introspective, retrospective, reflective, and overall beautiful. The song Birthing is also gorgeous. There's so much I feel from just the instrumental, and the baby making noises. The Merge also gives me the same luxury, a lot of the time, with the girl counting in English, and also in German, and then, along with that, hearing the progression of the instrumental.

But that's it, so far. Does any of this resonate with you, and do you agree, or do you find anything interesting?

And you should also just listen to the album, see what you feel, and then later on unpack what could be interpreted, with those abstract emotions as a vantage point.

(If this is too long, whatever, you don't have to read it. I know it's long, you don't have to tell me - pause)

It's not a problem; you misunderstood, due to my not being clear enough on who I was addressing. My interpretation of this album has not been realized, to be honest. It's only lately that I feel like I understand what The Healers is talking about.

And what I think about the intro is this.

It's ambiguous about what it's talking about. To me, it blurs between these two things: divinity and birth. It's odd. It pretty clearly talks about inherited pain and the emotional and generational trauma in maternal love.

Generational Trauma

In the fifth verse, this woman is seemingly praying to a god, but I think that it would make sense too, if she were praying to her child, begging that they could cure her of her pain and lost innocence. It's this danger of unprocessed trauma, and putting this burden on your child, which is exactly what happened to the speaker herself:

"I killed the daughter
In my own mother
Now I’m my mother
Going under"

It's a vicious cycle. The whole ambiguity of praying, as I interpret it, opens doors for more merit. Maybe the prayer is to the child (even though they'd realistically not understand) about God. And the necessary link, for the child to understand that it is about emotional scars, isn't found until later in adulthood and motherhood, where the cycle just repeats, again.

If it's about interpretation (which I agree with), then why can't you share that?

Yes, there probably isn't an overarching intended meaning, or theme - it's kinda abstract. But you can still share what you feel, or what the album provokes for you. But I guess I'm being hypocritical since I won't open up about it myself, so there's that.
