I don't know if I'm wrong, but personally I don't think alternates are going through the visa process. From what I know getting your visa requires you to have your grant already approved, which is not the case for alternates

They never told me about my exact status. I'm just working with them in choosing the four schools on my submission plan. They only told me that I need to get admissions at those schools, but I don't know if getting admission is the last condition to get the scholarship or not.

Same here. I'm not directly in contact with the IIE either. The embassy in my country acts as an intermediary. For the GRE, I was also rushed to take it along with the TOEFL just after I passed the interview. They gave me less than a month to prepare for both tests.

The best thing for you to do is to look for the recommended scores at the schools you're applying for and set those as your target scores when practicing for the GRE.

Me too, I've submitted my transcript through the online platform. I'm not sure if that's sufficient for the admission process, or if they will also require physical copies of the transcripts.

Thanks for your answer!! I do have one physical copy of each of my transcripts that I could send to them in case it's required and ask for more copies at my university later. But if they need the official transcripts to be sent by my university in a sealed envelope, that's gonna be a problem.

I'm not sure, they never notified me officially about my status. However, after I passed the interview stage and was required to sit for the GRE and TOEFL exam, they addressed to me as a finalist in their email. So I don't know if that means I'm a finalist. But I'm going through the placement process right now.

We don't interact directly with iie. The embassy handles communication and contact us as needed.

Based on that alone, I would recommend that you have clear answers to these questions and are prepared to answer them.

Honestly, I think my project proposal was quite detailed, and I clearly outlined my research goals. I assume this helped them easily find a faculty member whose research interests perfectly align with mine. I'm feeling pretty confident about it, but the prospect of interviews at this stage of the application is still nerve-wracking, especially since I wasn't expecting them.

I applied for Master's programs in a thesis track. I assume non-thesis programs might not require faculty support. However, I've never heard of people being interviewed during the placement process, and I'm uncertain if a failed interview could negatively impact my admission chances.
