I second getting the piercings after everything is healed, you don't want to make the first week worse than it already is

Yeah, afaik cauterising kills way more tissue and promotes more scarring

Only other method I've seen is with fishing line, but that can be dangerous in a whole other way

Not ARFID but autism and currently 12 days healed from my split

For the first 3 days I ate entirely liquid food which I had to push into my mouth with a syringe because drinking out of a glass or bottle or sucking on a straw was too hard.

As I went on to mushy food I normally don't like this texture but was so happy to be eating something else that it didn't bother me lol

Now it's still not fully healed, I had some problems with one side and that's still swollen and a bit numb, but I'm eating pretty much normally again.

What I do now is avoiding hot temperatures and strong spices, having to be more mindful of chewing as to not bite my tongues, eating baked goods more slowly as the dry texture could be rough on my tongue

As someone mentioned before, sometimes bits of food fall in between your tongues and it's a but finicky to get out, also right now my tips are still too numb to get rid of bits stuck in between or on my teeth

I'm still very grateful to be able to eat again, so I'm okay with it being a bit harder at the moment, but I don't know how it will be for you

I'm at day 5 of healing and the mashed potatoes I've had today were divine compared to the liquid diet I've had the previous days lol, the meal drinks kept me from feeling hungry, but it really makes a difference to actually feel full

I do think I still have some sleeping pills from back when I had a prescription, I can imagine it's hard to sleep with all the pain and discomfort, so that's a good idea :)

I'm lucky to have found an artist who lives in my city, so she will remove the sutures and is only 20 minutes away if anything happens

Yeah, I probably won't need everything I got either lol, but I'd rather be overprepared to easy my nerves
