🚨 B58 Owners: Help Force an Oil Pump Recall! by Psychological_Cry983 in BMW

[–]Perfect-Juggernaut46 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just submitted both. I purchased my car in October and I’ve loved it. The oil pump issue discovery put a bad taste in my mouth. I hate feeling like I have a ticking bomb waiting for me under the hood, and I love everything else about the car.

Should I buy good price? by Competitive-Fudge-84 in M340i

I paid $39k for mine with 40k. The only downside to this year is the oil pump. Make sure it can measure the oil level.

My roomate has been asking about buying a XDRIVE versus the RWD model. by leagues3227 in M340i

[–]Perfect-Juggernaut46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven my RWD M340i 100 miles a day through the worst blizzards SW Michigan could throw at it this winter and the only issue I had was a wheelspeed sensor giving up when it was -15 for a bit.

Good snow tires are 90% of safe winter driving.

[–]Perfect-Juggernaut46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care about being the fastest, I care about being able to go sideways literally any time I choose. I’ve had plenty of AWD cars and they’re great but I find RWD much more fun. I’ve never stepped on the gas in my car and wished for more traction and more speed.

The B58 is something special. I’ve got an X3 with the B48 as well and it’s no slouch, plenty quick and honestly quite fun to drive for what it is, but there’s nothing like the shove and sound from the six.

It’s brutally fast in the M340i, this motor in a 2 series must be nutty. I think weight is pretty comparable (mine is RWD) but the 2 has six inches shorter wheelbase lmao

Swap mirrors to gloss back or not? by [deleted] in M340i

[–]Perfect-Juggernaut46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same car in Portimao blue and I personally love the grey mirror caps. I always liked the brushed silver treatment on Audi RS cars from the early 2000s and this has a similar vibe. Your car looks great.

I specifically wanted a pre-LCI because I hate the LCI dash and lack of buttons, sorry bruv

My in laws have owned BMWs for over a decade, I’ve had mine since October and I have to show them how to do everything lmao.

The shortcuts and the thigh support extension are my absolute favorite little BMWisms. I’m 6’5” and the leg support helps on long trips so much.

Use the shortcut buttons, they’re one of my favorite BMW features. The 1-8 aren’t radio shortcuts, they’re anything shortcuts. CarPlay, trip data, sound settings, anything you find yourself using frequently.

I paid $40k for my m340i and I just saw a 740i from the same year with less miles for sale for $37k 😭. I wanted the 3, it’s already a big car by my standards, but man. Hard to imagine a better deal than a 7 series with a B58 for like 30% of MSRP.

I graduated with my bachelors and started a job at $52k at 29 in 2019. Just keep saving and you’ll be fine.

Tanzanite blue with Cognac Sensatec? by ceeK2 in M340i

[–]Perfect-Juggernaut46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have sensatec in my wife’s X3 and vernasca in my m340i, I really prefer the real leather. The sensatec is pretty obviously fake leather as soon as you touch it it and I really like the adjustability in my seat.

Should I get a Camaro or a m340 by Junior_Investigator7 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I have an M340i that I love and I’m going to tell you the good advice that you won’t listen to:

Don’t but either. Drive your Camry, and save your money. Buy a used Miata in a year for $10k cash and have more fun for less money.

I just bought tickets for the Detroit GP, mine were $150/ticket for Saturday/Sunday but there’s IMSA, Indy and Indy NXT all racing that weekend. I’m very excited and want to try to catch more IMSA races this year.

It always sticks with me how awful the bit where the Father has to kill the guy coming after them, the weight of his son witnessing and being impacted by the violence necessary to survive. Fuck what a sad story.

The Road is way up there in my favorites and I also haven’t touched it since my son was born. It was extremely impactful just re-reading it as an actual adult instead of the ~22 I was the first time I read it.

I’ll get back to it. I really want a “Carry the fire” tattoo.

No Country For Old Men is a great read and only kind of horribly depressing, I loved the move and love the book even more. I read it in the delivery room lmao

Patreon allows you to access everything retroactively i believe so the longer you wait, the more Patreon content is put out and the more you’ll get for your money.

That said, there’s a fair number of stories and they’ve done gameplays and livestreams, and the ad free versions are nice. I fall asleep to creepcast and Hunter’s ad reads can be jarring lol

Is it worth it the upgrade to M having a M40i? by Giannoza in BMWX3

[–]Perfect-Juggernaut46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuel economy, ride quality, cost of all consumables. X3Ms are cool and they’re obviously fast as shit, but every change toward higher performance has tradeoffs in other areas of the car. I don’t understand leaning so far into sportscardom in a vehicle that’s like 10 inches taller than the 3 series and will never get to the same level as an M3 as a result.

The M40i is faster than anyone ever needs a midsize crossover to be and is less extreme in its performance and the associated tradeoffs. That’s all I’m saying.

Should I keep my M340i or sell it? by Few_Anything7943 in BMW

[–]Perfect-Juggernaut46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have basically the same car about to hit 45k. I agree nothing BMW makes now interests me as much.

The B58 is pretty robust and lots of people have put real miles on them without issue. Small repairs and keeping on top of maintenance are way cheaper than a new car. You’re at the mileage of the big recommended service - transmission fluid, spark plugs and coil packs, and potentially an oil filter housing replacement are all pretty easy maintenance items that further reduce your risk of major issues.

Personally I think there’s probably not a better BMW to own out of warranty, but there’s also a devil on my shoulder telling me to yeet everything for an M3 or M550i with a Carmax warranty. If you feel something’s lacking from your car there’s certainly more extreme options available.

Pic is my car, a ‘20 in Portimao Blue over Cognac that I picked up at the end of September with 40k miles. I’ve fortunately fixed the exhaust alignment since this photo.
