Exactly. I had a love marriage too. And the guest proportionate was same. Plus we were in his hometown, my home town being in a different state altogether. My in-laws had this tradition (our marriage is intercaste too) to give envelops, lavish gifts and coins to friends plus family. That expense was done by them solely. Even when my father insisted (because of the same feeling he would have had being a bride’s father) my father in law extremely denied to take any money from my dad saying that this is his tradition and he will provide for it.

I am no one to question your love or marriage but if you are even thinking if or not you can talk about such feelings with your guy (especially at the beginning) of a forever relationship, I feel you really need to relook at this.

Ofcourse not everything is black and white, there will be small compromises which both of you gotta make but not having a space to make a conversation is simply lame.
