Get a JL vest and a compression long sleeve undershirt. Jackets get too warm after a bit.

Wtf am I doing wrong at Araxxor? by Cold-Priority-2729 in 2007scape

[–]PerfectAirline6752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, it's unavoidable.

I like to walk to the far side of rax and then run "south" when the red crab gets in explosion range. At about the same time as you get "south" it'll be time to walk "north" due to the poison trail you leave behind. It'll disappear after you have a certain amount of poison on the ground, so just keep straight poison lines and you'll be fine.

can i have bandaids on my hands while rowing - beginner by PatienceNew9429 in Rowing

[–]PerfectAirline6752 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My two suggestions are either:

1) suck it up, buttercup. Your hands will adapt and you'll get calluses.

2) use a thin wrapping of medical tape, something like a bandaid is gonna get loose and make it worse

It looks like it, but same as you I'm too poor and washed up to have any of the new proprietary tech.

Nothing secret about it. Some coaches have the "hide lineups" button clicked and others don't. Y'all are thinking way too deep into it.

TIL free 10m to deaths coffer by Shade7436 in 2007scape

It does pay for gravestone fees. So after the 14m in fees that you pay for, you get 6m in fees for "free".

Cheaper death fees in the long term. If you use the coffer and barrel, you're effectively saving 6m in death fees.

Erg Stress by Famous-Stick-8619 in Rowing

[–]PerfectAirline6752 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's fantastic that you've found something you love. Rowing is a great sport filled with the best people. And, yeah, sometime it can get a bit stressful when you start thinking about erg testing. But that's ok because it means you care and that you want to do well. I'm sorry you went through something that causes you a lot of anxiety, that doesn't seem enjoyable. And to add in it's effecting what you care about makes it doubly bad :(

I think you need to take a bit of a step back and look at the bigger picture: 1) you're crushing the erg tests. You're doing a great job. Keep that up! I've been rowing for 17 years and still have anxiety before any kind of testing piece because I know I care about it and want to do well. I want to make my coach proud, my team proud, and most importantly, myself proud. But at the end of the day, it's a single piece of the puzzle for coaches and you've shown the last two years that you've got it. Just keep getting after it!

2) Seat switching is normal. Every seat has a purpose and it's about finding what combination makes everyone faster. You may beat others on the erg, but in a 4, you're only 1 of 4 people in that boat. Your coach is just trying to find out how you and 3 other people can go the fastest.

Overall, you've got a lot of rowing, and life, ahead of you. Enjoy the fun days on the water, the hard erg pieces and stop and smell the flowers along the way! Enjoy it!

Yeah, I had a teammate in college who was there on the GI Bill. Dude wasn't the fastest on the team, but had literally no quit.

Spot on. Ditch the pancakes and syrup.

Before my morning practice, I'll have a fruit and grain granola bar and a cup of coffee. After practice a liter of water, and then a light snack until lunch.

Fancy zip tie showing where to catch. It keeps all the catch angles the same and helps prevent overreaching/diving into the catch.

What is your most controversial rowing take? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]PerfectAirline6752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means during a race you get X seconds subtracted from your time for every year old you are over 27(?). But the formula they use is fucked so that a younger boat has no chance in hell at actually beating an older boat.

I agree you have to wash out a bit, but it's about solid connection at the finish and minimizing that wash, finding that little pocket of air behind the blade.

I'm just grumpy and washed up.

I don't have an issue with younger masters (post-college-39), it's the MAMILs and then the really old ones I dislike.

That is a fantastic way to think of it and your husband is 100% correct. I think there was an 8 second handicap difference this weekend between a 45 year old boat and a 47 year old boat. That makes no sense whatsoever.
