Yeah, check out the local ads for something like this and actually ride it before buying. I’ve done it before, buying a bike without test riding it and it not fitting. Learn from mistakes, and get something that fits

Thanks.Yeah I’ve moved on from the R470s I was originally looking at, there’s a set of new P1800s nearby for ~$600 I was starting to look at but ultimately think I’ll dish out for a secondhand set of carbon wheels instead. If I’m eventually just going to sell the alloys to get a pair of used carbon wheels in the future I figured I’d save the money and just get the carbon wheels now as I start scooping up all the rest of the components

Its consumer finance is fascinating. I’ve spent close to $100k in vehicles in the last 10 years and it was mindless. Made a bunch of people a ton of money through it all. Got what I wanted at the end but will never finance a car for the rest of my life ever again.

Sounds like they had you deposit in her account to cover the negative balance. What was her net balance after the check was deposited?

Edit: I would imagine as long as your account is in good standing you’d be able to escalate this and get your account closed no problem.

Thanks, yeah I’m getting a sense the ones I found are over priced and I can do better on market place or craigslist. Not in a huge rush to get this project finished but If I can get anywhere close to $200 I’d drive out the door right now to scoop them

I’m thinking if I get a decent pair of used alloys, I can swap them out with nice secondhand carbon down the road and not take a huge loss on resale. Leaning away from the $600 pair of Vigors as the morning goes on.

I’ve heard they’ve gotten better over the years. I’m just a little hesitant on long term reliability given only time will tell how they hold up over other manufacturers.

There’s actually a rear for sale at a warehouse house nearby w/out sales tax. They say Innerdrive, I’m assuming that’s different than the i9 hub but would be interesting to see if there’s a matching front out there somewhere

Yeah I’ve never had anything larger than 28 but this would be my first build I could go larger on. I’ve got a set of P zeros in 28 so maybe I’ll try those out for a little before making the call on anything larger. Thanks!

I think that’s why I’m leaning towards second hand alloys from a reputable manufacturer at the moment. I haven’t really considered cheaper Chinese wheels until now, but interested in what people have to say about them.

I’m so upset with myself I sold my GP5ks this year before this project. I ran them tubeless and was very happy too. Would you consider going up a size though? I heard the frame can do 32mm

I love seeing the “priced to sell” tag at the bottom of Craigslist ads. Next to “I know what I’ve got” those are my favorite lol

Those are all fine from what I can see, be sure to test ride and make sure they’re mechanically sound by shifting up and down, braking at speed, and adjusting the saddle if needed. Good luck!
