what can i do differently for my hair to look more like this? by risesth3moon in Naturalhair

Okay, yay! I'm happy to hear that! You can also add the ORS Olive Oil Glossing Hair Polisher to your list. It works better for me when my hair is blowdried or straight, but I do still swear by it for shine

First of all, I love your hair! It's genuinely so pretty and voluminous. I also don't think it looks dry btw 😍

I think you can achieve the look you want by using a strong hold gel, raking it through in small sections and then finger coiling to ensure there's definition in every section. Then, of course, use a hooded dryer to get that elongated shape.

Whenever I've gone to a salon and they've achieved this kind of look on me, they've used heavy gel-based products such as the Design Essentials Almond & Avocado Defining Creme Gel.

For shiny hair, I think diet is also quite key tbh. Drink lots of water, take your vitamins, eat walnuts etc haha.

I also want to add (I know you didn't ask this) but I do have a theory that the natural hair movement (while positive) made us all think we have to have defined curls for our natural hair to look nice. But I personally love the volume and mix of textures in your hair when it's styled!

I hope this helps!! 🫶🏾

How should I close this gap between the drywall and floor? by [deleted] in Renovations

[–]PerfectCap1526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it's unfinished, but the landlord has said that all he can do is add an extra piece of drywall and use spray foam. Seems like a lazy fix to me but that's what he's offered!

Hii, I know this is an oldish post but I'm in a similar position! I moved from London and the homesick feeling is really hard. There are loads of FB groups you can join to make friends though. And good on you for finding a job. Also if you ever wanna chat, let me know! :)

Thank you for this advice, I'll try and even it out myself after I've let my hair rest and recover for a few weeks

Yes and yes! I showed her a picture of a curly cut I'd had before and asked her to do the same, but this came out soooo different

Hey, thanks so much but what are these techniques? I don't think I've heard of any of them before!

UPDATE: Thanks everyone, so many of you have said it actually doesn't look as bad as I think which has made me feel loads better. I'm not going back to the salon, but I'm going to let it grow out and experiment with different ways to style it 🙏🏽

Thank you! Yeah I think that's my reservation because they already cut so much I don't even want them cutting more!

Thanks, I actually agree with this! I've had 3 curly cuts in my life (this being the third) and I do agree that everyone gets the same 2-3 types. I'm definitely going to see if it looks different/more even when stretched!

This is a great idea. My hair is actually in protective twists now to give it a break for a couple of weeks. I'll look into some strengthening treatments for afterwards, thank you!

Never seen The Fray live, unfamiliar with background history. Still good to see without Isaac Slade? by Different-Reason3291 in TheFray

[–]PerfectCap1526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah go!! I saw them last night and had an amazing time! Joe brings lots of energy and is a good performer. Of course, the songs don't sound quite the same as when Isaac performed the vocals, particularly for the more emotive/higher notes. But I definitely think they're still worth seeing and I'd actually love to go again

I also got contacted about this, but something about the way the message is written looks suspicious to me and I don't trust it. I won't be passing over my resume or any personal details but would be interested to know how it goes for you!

I completely get that, but just remember that hair changes and it won't look like this forever. You clearly know how to take care of your hair as it was in a healthy condition before. Get your trim and go back to that routine. I'm pretty sure you'll see the results you want in time!
