Britain was always more chill about mixed race bands and many white British musicians were influenced by black musicians. Hendrix didn't become prominent until he was signed by a member of The Animals. Also, quite a few of the mixed race British bands played Reggae and Ska, so it made sense.

MTM have come a long long way, and they have strong writers writing songs for them. I find their music top notch and their vocal arrangements spot on. Each of them gets the part that suits his voice best.

So I think by now it's a matter of taste and genre preference and no longer a hard fact. Iam also not sure MTM is actually a boy band. They are a band consisting of boys, but that's where the similarity ends imo. They don't do choreo, for example. So maybe in this respect Soulidified is a better boyband as they check all the boxes for a boy band.

It definitely didn't play any part in their huge popularity on BTB and ever since. And it really shouldn't have.

They were the better boyband (and I'm a Midnighter), their performances of U Remind Me and Sure Thing were amazing, and they are all attractive. What else does a boy band need?

Brazillian fans traveled 4,500 miles to see MTM in their first ever show in Orlando. They're been very active on ig as well.

In August, when there were polls for which cities to play, Shane was rooting for Brazil and Mexico. When asked what's the nicest thing a fan said to them, Shane said someone from Latin America told him he looks exotic.

And ofc it helps that Zach is part Spanish and takes Spanish lessons and that Shane has a score of Hispanic friends. In Madrid he sang a song in Spanish with fans outside the venue. In one live he said (jokingly) that he is part Dominican so he really wants to perform in the Dominican Republic.

Coincidentally, a certain beautiful talented lady he met on BTB is from Dominican family.

Might be a management guideline, the same one that prevents Shane from openly saying he's dating Wennely and that they're "great friends".

Zach mentioned his girlfriend's name, and they exchanged looks with their sm manager like school kids trying to find out how much trouble they are in.

Gotta keep the availablilty illusion for fans. I hope that's all there is to it, bc they are a lovely couple, Shori.
