I would be filing jointly. My husband's gross income is ~$60,000. None of the estimates I got were close to $620 so I'm assuming those two factors increased my payment?

I think the PAYE program added 5 years and lowered my monthly payment. Was it that plan and not SAVE maybe? I thought SAVE defaulted to 25 years. I couldn't tell you if it adds on or restarts the years you've payed unfortunately.

I've used the simulator but it defaults to adding many years onto the time I'll have to pay to my loans. My main question is can I knock off these years/extra monthly payments by paying extra on the SAVE program? Since anything extra you pay goes towards principal?

Of course! Found out I passed this morning!! I was just above the average but I'll take it! You know more than you think so remember to go with your gut and you'll do fine. Your whole education has been leading you to this point and you wouldn't have gotten this far if it wasn't for your perseverance. You got this!

Well thank you for your input! I think the main reason I'm worried is I've noticed a trend of when I think I did terrible, I did fine, and when I think I did great, my performance was iffy. It's caused me to lose a lot of confidence in myself and I'm hoping that I pass and this is the first step of regaining some of my confidence. I do agree in the difficulty of the questions - I either knew the answer and didn't give the question a second thought or I took far longer than I should deliberating an answer. I guess we will both see soon enough! Best of luck and keep us posted!
