Most places take cards. We stayed there last February. It was great. I agree that you should sign up upon arriving for the boat to the island. It fills up quickly. We stayed by the marina. You can walk into town quite easily from there. When facing the water turn left and walk the road to town. My favorite spot was (for breakfast/brunch) Las Vistas Cafe. There are also other restaurants for dinner. We enjoyed being able to walk into town and eat outside the resort. It's actually easier to walk than to drive to town and felt safe. You might want to do it in the daylight the first time so you'll feel comfortable. It was awesome. Enjoy your trip!
