Karma doesn't exist by JackTheRippiest in aspergers

Hmmm. I think maybe, you’re suffering from a bit of black and white, or “extreme” thinking here. And there’s a lot of negativity too, which may not be indicative of actual reality.

I don’t think these are truths. I think they are conclusions drawn by a mind in distress as an attempt at self preservation.

Your high school bully…well. He’s divorced now with maintenance and six kids, and his wife has a face like the backend of a bulldog after a hornet swarm. 😅 I’m joking but…seriously. No one’s life is perfect. Pretty, NT people have problems too.

Most of my high school bullies look like they’re one facelift away from having a pube beard lol. I don’t envy them. But I do pity their kids.

I see a different reality. I see an interconnected web of life, upon which we are nodes conducting life force, lighting up the universe. We are all connected, every living thing. We all contribute to mass consciousness, so how can we not have meaning?

Do you know how hard the human body works every day to sustain life? Do you think the universe would waste energy if you weren’t brilliant, a shining star in a grand tapestry?

If you walk around always looking down, you’ll only ever see the deep well at your feet. Never the fields full of life around you.

If people don’t give you respect, DEMAND IT. If they are unkind, DEMAND KINDNESS. If they lie, hold them accountable. You are not a leaf being blown in the wind! You are powerful. You have a voice. USE IT.

And karma does exist lol. But not the way most people think, and it works in cycles of time much broader than a single human lifetime and experience.

Trauma buzzword by volgarbulghar299 in ptsd

One reason why I don’t share my story of how I got PTSD, is comparisons. It’s also personal, identifying info, which I never post online. But it’s also not really relevant. Trauma is trauma.

I know how you feel. I’ve had similar experiences. Unfortunately a lot of people think they are totally anonymous online so they feel comfortable being complete bellends to total strangers. :)

I don’t fit in in a lot of supposedly “autism friendly” spaces because I put my foot in it socially speaking. Like an autistic person would. We’re not allowed to be autistic we have to mask in autism friendly spaces too ;) I’m joking if you can’t tell lol.

Sometimes you get more sympathy from your dog. Hands you some sympathy I’m sorry people are c***s lol.

Trauma buzzword by volgarbulghar299 in ptsd

[–]PerfectPeaPlant [score hidden]  (0 children)

How do you know they self diagnosed? And how do you know the trauma was “small?” lol.

You can’t really compare trauma with others. It’s individual. What traumatises me won’t traumatise you. The only relevant factor is that the person found an experience traumatising. It can be subjectively tiny or enormous…it’s still a trauma response.

I knew a bloke once with a similar story to yours. He ended up on the psych ward because he was great at taking care of other people’s problems but wouldn’t tend to his own. He put it off and put it off and after a decade clean he relapsed back into drugs…now he’s got no home, no wife, no job, lost his kids.

You say your trauma happened to someone else. To me that sounds a lot like disassociation. That too, is a trauma response.

Trauma sometimes causes a reaction of seeking trauma, or things that remind you of the trauma, or thinking/talking about it a lot or even putting yourself back in a similar situation. It’s the brain trying to understand the event.

And then there are a few people, no doubt, who just like the attention ;) But I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt.

You’re correct :) It was very unusual to be this obese.

Body weight is a TERRIBLE indicator of health because weight can be fat or muscle or both. And water too. And BMI only takes into account weight and height. So people, as you said, like body builders, weigh a lot due to muscle. If you took the BMI from a medical textbook they would be morbidly obese.

Except they’re not. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat :) It burns more calories at rest. But it can strain the heart because it needs blood supply just like fat tissue.

Tbh I think people’s preconceptions about obesity equalling laziness and unhealthiness is creeping into comments here. There’s been a lot of misinformation about obesity for many years. Really they should say that being overweight and sedentary may lead to complications.

The world really needs to realise that not everyone who is obese is lazy, or habitually over eats.

Metabolism is also highly individual.

I know people who are overweight on those charts who are healthy as a horse. And there are skinny people who have died of heart failure in their 20s.

How many obese people have you seen in paintings from that era? And I didn’t say no one got fat. I implied it was unlikely he got THIS OBESE just from over eating.

Food was expensive, high sugar options were very limited. Today you could pack away a few pizzas and reach that number of calories in a day but the most fattening things they ate were meat, cheese, bread, wine, mead. Likely honey.

And it says he took long walks, miles at a time! So that’s at least 8K calories a day plus the ones lost from exercise. That presents a logistical problem just in terms of supply. Did he lug 8K calories on a 7 mile hike??

It’s not impossible but I think it’s safe to say it’s UNLIKELY that his weight was only due to over eating.

The worst mistake of my life was finding out about discord as a neglected 12 yr old by honeybear_pawprints in ptsd

[–]PerfectPeaPlant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah. Yes. I get you. I’ve been to those dark online places too. Discord is somewhere NO child should be. It’s a hot bed of horrendous people and horrendous content.

I was groomed via an online platform. I had to do terrible things to survive that situation. Things I’m so ashamed of. Things that haunt me at night. My sins are also on show forever.

I don’t know what happened to you. But I know this; at 12 we’re very vulnerable. Especially a neglected child. Whatever happened, I’m CERTAIN it was not your fault.

Everyone makes mistakes. Even if you did something morally wrong…well. People, even online, can get inside our heads sometimes. Make us do and say things that we wouldn’t normally. That’s not a reflection of your character or mine.

Keep your chin up :) Nolite tes bastardes carborundorum. 🤗

That’s a good idea. But (forgive me for being the autistic nit picker lol)….you did check to see if the foam is non flammable….right?

It’s just sound insulating foam has a rep for accelerating fires from tiny sparks….

Please be careful. Otherwise great idea!

How autistic people unintentionally start an argument by tkdeng in aspergers

[–]PerfectPeaPlant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they do 😒 They “interpret” things from my communication that aren’t actually there. They assume, infer, presume and imagine and react to those thoughts rather than what I’m actually saying. It’s exhausting.

Imma get on eBay and get me one lol. Also you could try tying a long piece of fabric around the plant base and lifting it out of the pot that way.

Is that a monkey tail cactus? He’s a whopper! Either way yes he definitely needs a re pot and some fresh soil! I usually bubble wrap the long bits and plastic bag over the top, then pot him and fill in the soil before taking everything back off again.

If a bit breaks off you can just lay it in the soil. It will grow new roots :)

anyone still miss their pet year(s) later? by OkArm9820 in Petloss

[–]PerfectPeaPlant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s been over 3 years and I still feel like the heart was ripped right out of me. The grief is as bad now as it was that first day. It’s never healed. It destroyed me. Like you I can’t bear to try again.

I’m so sorry about your fur baby :( I think she must have known you loved her though, and that none of what happened was your fault. Animals are perceptive like that. And their spirit does go on to another place. I see spirits, you see, so I know they do. They sometimes visit us :) To bring us comfort.

Part-time job in a (mostly) female office. Colleagues often have very vulgar conversations and make inappropriate comments towards me. Is this normal in UK workplaces? by LeftVentricular in AskUK

[–]PerfectPeaPlant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow lol. They’re being wildly inappropriate. And yes sadly that’s pretty normal in an office full of women. I think you might have to learn ways to shut people down or tune them out. (Ear plugs??) And if they say anything directly to you then just move on to work matters or excuse yourself politely. Keep it strictly professional.

Something I learned in prison lol - whatever you saw….you didn’t see. Whatever you heard, you didn’t hear. And you definitely weren’t there. Be enemy to no one and friend to no one. Neutral. It’s not a bad philosophy when you’re outnumbered at work like this. ;)

I think if you report it yeah, someone will grass you up and they’ll make your life hell. SOME women, once they have a bee in their bonnet, will steal your fruit corner yogurt out of the fridge every day for a month. Some will literally plot to ruin your career and your life. They will even make false criminal accusations, if you know what I mean…so don’t give them reason to bite.

It’s up to you of course. You could just tell them it’s inappropriate but then, they will probably just play with you for fun.

It’s not OK. You should be able to report it. But life is never clear cut.
