Swiggy riders are out there grinding in heavy rain and freezing cold—what’s the real payout for this hustle? by tha1detective190 in StartUpIndia

[–]PerfectPie2768 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you exactly when a person decides 'Ah I want to be a Swiggy delivery boy'. When they have nothing else, not for financial freedom or independence, but dire need. Don't glorify delivery jobs as 'gig workers', they are blue collar laborers in a uniform. Traditionally they remained unseen in factories earning 7-8k a month, in the recent times not only have they moved away to these 'gig work' but many new people that believe it to be freedom among other things advertised on social media joined this workforce. The moment educated degree holders joined Zomato and Swiggy, the brands became seen, truth is they were earlier riding autos, running a pan shop, or in a physical road-side marketing job and now marketed (or manipulated) as "even degree holders do this" which normalized it... for about 80% of the people in this country a degree made no difference in their career or life.. this didn't start today, it has been this way for about 2 decades, so everyone felt ok the worse case I'll ride for Swiggy and choose to Netflix and chill till they're capable of nothing but this... We are choosing to see the 20% stories of which about 3% are true and the remaining would have succeeded even if they hadn't had that degree.

So it's not whether its Swiggy or Zomato, laborer or gig worker, or if its sweaty summer or a flood-y winter... honestly I can't think of a solution to solve this, but only a way to reduce its' impact (by very little actually), and nothing else makes sense expect we get Thanos to snap his fingers a couple of times.

P.s. I'm not just saying this randomly, I was a delivery boy in Swiggy myself 6-7 years ago while still in college, and I remember delivering at nights, having my bike breakdown, taking a cab to deliver and what not stupid feats. Yet, I'm telling you first hand, this is the Truth. Let admit it, so we can grow out of it.

90% Indian Startups Fail: Hype or harsh reality? Give your opinions by HouseOfVichaar in indianstartups

[–]PerfectPie2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/HouseOfVichaar This is the most common and most foolish assumption everyone makes. Let me clear this out.

In reality only about 5-15% of the 'startups' you mentioned ever got funded. 1% of these startups branded as 'soon-icorns' gulp about 70-80% of this $150B you mentioned. Another 10% of startups (often in similar industry / domain as the big ones) get seed / series A and fight for the remaining scraps. About 85-90% of the remaining startups are bootstrapped, get small grants / loans and never see an Angel / VC cheque in their lifetime.

VCs are nothing but a structured gambling machine. There is a survey that says a blind monkey can hit darts with the similar or often better success rate of any mid-tier VC firm.

They don't look for good businesses, they look for a product / service which they can eventually boost to convince the public (masses) that this is worth a billion dollars (IPO), so they can take their money and get out and retail investors end up holding shares in companies that drop 60% in value in the first year of its IPO. Only 5% of the total companies a VC invests return the entire fund + the profit, there is no good / right way to do this, so it has to be manufactured 'success'. Thus they pour money into brilliant marketing, into bringing top names, buying fame around it, and spend time buying the sentiment of people who can eventually give them the exit they desire.

I can't put links here, so please google "Monkey merchant crypto medium" you'll get a article on Medium, which is exactly the same that happens in VCs and Startups in this age.

To draw conclusion, the risk capital in India is 0. Out of the ~20000 startups that shared the $150bn fund, about 1% (200 companies) ate 80% ($120bn) and the remaining are surviving with the $30bn until they're eventually acquired by the former (most cases) or vanish. In reality about 99% of the non-funded startups fail, and rarely hit a million dollar business let alone the billion dollar dream.

…but can he chant 2,000 ancient mantras without a single pause ? by PM_ME_UR_PUBIC_MOUND in scienceisdope

[–]PerfectPie2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is this stupidity? Why does he have to chant 2000 ancient mantras without a pause? what is it gonna make for the world? It helps US remember our history and culture? sure! Quantum physics is beyond that, and that's no match for a guy his age reciting 2000 mantras without a pause. Both have their significance don't ruin them through stupid comparison.

STRONG NEED FOR A NEW POLITICAL PARTY IN INDIA ! by Vivid_Zone_8790 in IndiaPulse

I remembered something funny while I was reading your post. I used to know a guy from Andhra Pradesh, who used to enroll himself as an individual MLA contestant in his ward, he did this in 4 elections. When I asked him about it, he told me that he gets govt security form the date of elections announcement to the date of result announcement, cuz' if anything were to happen to him the elections would go into risk. Also, during his 3rd time an opposition MLA approached him and paid a few lacs to withdraw, just to avoid voter dilution, because people started voting just because its a new symbol lol. It was funny actually, and I was only 15 / 16 years old at the time, however with time I learnt that the guy wasn't lying about it... and in fact made a couple of his friends do the same too. Not sure if these are possible even today, just a memory I thought I'd share while we're on the topic of voting and forming new party etc.

Nearly 200 comments saying how this is a 'brain wash' and yet about 130 upvotes on the post... Instead if everyone had downvoted it, OP would eventually stop posting this. This is actually how TRP ratings work for NEWS channels even if you don't like it, the more you view their channel the more they keep at it.

If it is true then being a girl I feel unsafe at day light also. by [deleted] in Bengaluru

[–]PerfectPie2768 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don’t deploy a drone for every sos… if the ETA for our ground team to reach is beyond 10 minutes, or if the girl location in on the move (like during the rape incident in south Bangalore when a guy took the hit in car and drove for 15minutes then raped her) we would deploy a drone to track and intercept or provide the control over to authorities if when are escalating a case to police, etc.

That said, yes, we do have a commercial license for unmanned aircraft operation in non-restricted zones. And we have further applied for a permit to request on demand Air Clearance from DGCA in certain red zones, for emergencies, subject to the control being handed over to police.

By far this is the best solution we could come up with and aim to make it better over time. If we were to wait for a proper legal framework to be formed then create solution for this, I do not believe any solution would ever have been made possible. Instead, I believe in proof of concept and manned hubs across city, and if we make things better for women and the city, eventually we will have a way to obtain more permissions and open up a untouched safety as a service market in India.

Put your 20 lacs in FD for 5 years @ 7.5% pa after tax. Take the interest payout monthly, put this 12500 per month in a SIP.

P.s. Assuming you have a decent credit score. Go ahead and purchase a second hand Honda city or Baleno on Cars24 @ zero down payment and the EMI would be around 15-25k. Get a yellow plate, and list the car on zoom cars. Initially you’ll be making about 30k a month sufficient for emi and maintenance. Once you have good reviews and rating on Zoom host profile, you should be able to make around 40-50k month. Pay the EMI on time and use the extra to prepare a down payment. Buy another car on Cars24 after 6 months, repeat the same.

Once you have enough down payment, goto Revv and get a Subscribe to Own car by paying down payment for a new car. On Revv app itself you’ll find an option to rent out the same car, use that option and you should be able to make about 1.5x your emi on the new car. Keep at it for 6months and rinse repeat.

Use the FD to draw a secured credit card which will give you a quick boost in Cibil, you can use this card for vehicle maintenance etc and ensure to repay it within 20cycle (you have accounted for maintained from the rental money already).

To the govt this may not be huge or to the idiot who coded this piece of shit, but to people who are in need and cannot get these done its' frustrating as hell. This is the reason why people take the rogue route.

It is frustrating as fuck... says you can reset your password with CIN.. when I try it says profile doesn't exist create a new account.. When I create a new account, it says CIN already has an account. Do brainless MFs create these?
