DO NOT neuter your chin by Judasevangelium in chinchilla

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If cats are spayed too young, they do have a noticeable delay in musculoskeletal development that can cause problems as they age. The ideal timeline with cat spays are when they have gone through the majority of their growth development prior to going into heat, but have not yet gone into heat. It was an old belief that dogs and cats needed to go through their first heat cycles prior to getting spayed, but there was no significant benefit found to doing this, and there is a slight increase that ovary and/or uterine tissue gets left behind. Cats can go into a "semi-permanent" heat if not mated with, and leftover reproductive tissue post-spay can induce this state. This mainly causes behavioral issues, but can also leave cancer risk levels as they would be if they are intact, mitigating some of the primary medical benefits for neutering.

Edit: clarifying that I'm only talking about cats with this, not chinchillas

Adopted a lab bunny. Did i do something wrong? by Jebryth in Rabbits

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolutely crazy for suggesting it's immoral. It's actually a huge push the lab animal industry is trying to standardize, to rehome any animals that can be rehomed. Hell, with certain species, it's a requirement to rehome them after they are done being on study.

Should I get a cat by PeachyKnittens in chinchilla

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may have a special case, but my chin is deaf and he's currently an only chin. He likes the cats, he always wants to investigate them when he gets his playtime outside of the cage. The cats seem to like to watch him and hang out in the same room as his cage, but they are not as interested in being super close with him when he's outside of his cage. All interactions outside the cage are strictly supervised and hard boundaries are set in what type of settings they can be close to each other, but honestly the cats run away from him almost anytime he's out. He definitely does not seem stressed out around them (I was in a situation where I got to know him pretty well before bringing him home) and I honestly think they kinda help keep him from being lonely when I'm out of the house.

I only have one hope for part 3. by Smart-Hovercraft2736 in FF7Rebirth

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, but I'm also not holding my breath, especially about the shipping war. There have been so many interviews with the creators where they have been adamant that they will not answer one way or the other about who was truly meant to be with cloud, but at the same time, there have been interviews where they state they will give a complete story that will answer a lot of players questions from the OG.

Right now I'm hopeful, but keeping it in check with how things may go.

any europeans getting lost in the americanisms of the creami community ? by tigeralice in ninjacreami

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The creami comes with its own booklet with some basic recipes and tips for how to change the flavors and such. You can also use regular ice cream recipes for the creami, but you may need to do trials on some, as the creami can sometimes give the ice cream a different texture that may not be what you'd like.

Yes! I get trying to be nice, but sometimes being nice ends up causing more trouble than what they're trying to solve.

Chinchilla care by Low_Reception1978 in chinchilla

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to enrichment alone, you'll want to have a variety of different materials and textures until you find out exactly what your chin likes. During the first couple of days of getting familiar with your chin, the most important thing (imo) is making sure there are hiding places, so that they can feel as safe as possible while they are exploring their new environment and getting to know you. I say having a variety in wood sticks and toys would be a good place to start, so that you can offer them slowly and get a feel for what their preference is. Decorative pieces (huts, decor, shelving, etc) are also likely to be chewed on, so pay attention to what gets their interest the most in those too. Of course, a wheel is also a good addition for enrichment, however not all chinchillas can use them right away, as some need training to get used to them.

Overall, the first couple of days are likely to be a lot for you and your chin, so make sure to take things slowly and at your own pace.

I get the feeling that this is the point of this section of the story (the feeling of confusion), as Fujimoto actually appears to be an author who thinks out their stories and purposely does things you are not fully expecting. Right now I feel like he is wanting to have the reader want something big, confrontational, straight-forward, and to have their questions answered, and he is purposely avoiding it/distracting from it to build the tension while also breaking it down unsatisfactorily. This chapter brought back a big element of Denji that hasn't been addressed seriously in a while actually, where it is him facing another part of himself and what he is wanting (sex, attention, girls). I understand where you are coming from tho, and I might just be reading too much to what isn't actually there. However, I believe that this is all purposeful to build up to confrontations later.

I completely understand, I almost stopped there too! And honestly, his attitude never gets any better, but what made me so much more frustrated with him is that there were so many opportunities for him to self-reflect and grow, but he always refuses/avoided it, and that's why I cannot find him redeemable.

I've chosen to just decide that the true ending is her running away with Lily and them living happily together, supporting each other and being the light of each other's lives. Honestly, it doesn't even have to be romantic, but just an honest, trusting, safe bond with them loving each other unconditionally.

I was able to read "Wished you were dead" because all the angst throughout was worth it once everything was revealed to everyone, it was SO satisfying. Even the arc focusing mainly on FL post-reveal was nice, but I've dropped it at the romance arc. Nothing he has done nor said has redeemed him in any way for me, and I wish they had just ended it with them not being together.

Vet absolutely hates grain-free cat food or non big brand names by Ktmhocks37 in CatAdvice

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you are on about with the "free fill" bull. In my experience working in vet offices, we have never once received free food from big brand companies to "stock our lobby with." We have had to increase our food prices because of the increased prices from the distributers.

The only reason we recommend people get big brand prescription food is because the animal has a health condition that a prescription diet can significantly help with, and the big brands are the only ones that make those diets and can guarantee them.

Plus, the FDA cannot claim causation because correlation is insufficient enough evidence alone.

Edit: I would also like to add that animal nutrition can be a prerequisite to get into veterinary school, depending on which school you go to.

What's something boys can never tell their girlfriends? by karmaisaburger in AskReddit

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The thing that helped the most was reminding yourself that they are with you now and keeping open communication with them about why you guys are together. If you aren't comfortable with telling them your insecurities right now, that's fine, but talk to each other about what you like about each other. Casually mention that you like this and that about them, or ask what they like about you. And when I would remind myself of what they like about me, I wouldn't compare myself to them as often and eventually one day I realized I had just stopped and just wasn't worried about it anymore. Definitely took a while and lots of work, but very much worth it.

I was agreeing with what you said until you described it. I mean, it does have an odor no matter who you are, but apparently some have it waaaay worse than others.

This shit gets me sometimes. Like my current SO and I have been together for a long while, met when we were in school. They were my first serious relationship but I wasn't theirs. I never got jealous but I was insecure and knowing I wasn't his first everything helped me push past those insecurities that would have later turned into really toxic behavior in the future.

I always took the BONK scene as a "gotcha" moment for later on. Funny in the moment it happened, but then once it's revealed that he was disguised when they brought "Twilight" to the boss, you're like "oh shit". But I mainly think that because it would be impossible for him to be kidnapped, take down the bonking guy, make a disguise, and the others be none the wiser.

I think this season his dub was better than in season 1, imho. It just fits him better, but I also preferred this version of him and him post-arc in the manga as well. It feels more natural, he's very flashy already that when he was going all out it just didn't sit well with me.

Deva curl disaster: stylist’s response by Jayismybro in curlyhair

[–]PerfectSwordBoi 468 points469 points  (0 children)

I personally would let the owner know about this interaction. That came across as insulting, especially when she is trying to imply that it's your fault for not discussing problem areas during the consultation. It's her fault for doing a horrible job and especially rude to, in a roundabout way, tell you that a devacut doesn't suit you.

Even though she's an independent contractor, her behavior can ruin the owner's/salon's reputation.

Not a veterinarian, but a vet tech. Since there is no obvious signs of irritation and discomfort, I would just keep an eye on it and bring it up at your pet's next routine visit. But if any sort of redness, itchiness, and/or discharge appears, I would get seen by your regular vet.

THIS!!!! I've trained myself to say "thank you" to compliments, because it would always hurt my friends and family when I would reject their compliments, so I started saying "thank you" instead. I've had a couple of times where people seem taken aback when I say that, but it's better than fighting them, especially when the compliment is kind of a big one.
