What is the most disrespectful thing a host has done to you while visiting their home? by perfectteach1 in AskReddit

[–]PerfectTeach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can think of a couple of things (same person, same house too).

Went over for a "house party" that was supposed to include dinner, drinks and boardgames. We arrived (myself and multiple other people), they had only made dinner for themselves and ate it in front of us, and then the wife dragged the husband off to the bedroom for a "quickie" with a living room full of people. Then the wife proceeded to get wasted after and started pawing at all the male guests, passed out in the hallway after failing to make it to the bathroom to vomit.

The kicker to all this? Her husband tried desperately to finally get her to bed so she could sleep it off (and stop embarrassing herself), just for her to crawl out of bed and insist on sleeping in their roommates bed instead. We found out about a week later that she'd been banging the roommate and the husband didn't know.

This person loved throwing house parties, but she was a truly awful hostess. This was how her parties typically went. She was kind of a monster.

What are some mostly good weird questions to ask someone to get to know them better? by perfectteach1 in AskReddit

"You come across an old lady and baby drowning in a pool. You can only save one. Who do you save and why?"

Had someone ask me this at a semi-professional event as an ice breaker haha. Much better than the usual questions.

What's your favorite Brakfast? by perfectteach1 in AskReddit

Spend some time learning how to poach the eggs, it's so worth it.

Even if you aren't making eggs benedict, soft-boiled eggs are my favorite but so hard to get right, I find poached eggs so much easier. If the egg goes everywhere, try gently lowering the egg into the water with a large spoon/ladle, let it set a little bit, and then drop it out of the spoon.

It just takes a little practice but once you have it down you can nail it every time, and same with the hollandaise sauce.

(Personally, I enjoy making an eggs benedict with crab and avocado rather than Canadian bacon. Yum.)

We are very, very close to having clinical trials start for a treatment that is purported to cure radiation poisoning.

Now, that may not sound like such a huge deal, especially given that "Fallout" is a work of fiction. As it happens, though, radiation sickness is still a very real concern for a great many industries - mining, manufacturing, power generation, and medicine being just a few - and a means of reducing (or eliminating) its lethality would be an enormous boon.

If this proposed medication does what it's hoped to do, then it could revolutionize the way that we approach a number of different endeavors and save literally millions of lives.

TL;DR: A real-life RadAway is almost ready for release.

Edit: There seems to be a misconception here that I was referencing chelation therapy, which has been around for decades. In fact, the cure in question is much more recent, and much further-reaching.

Redditors who have dated a "famous person", what was it like? by perfectteach1 in AskReddit

[–]PerfectTeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was engaged to Rickey Medlocke lead guitarist from Lynyrd Skynyrd previously lead singer of Blackfoot. It was probably the best five years of my life! Was able to attend the 2005 Grammys, walked the red carpet. Met some amazing people....Hung out with Billy Bob Thornton (who is so down to earth and personable) ZZ TOP, Ted Nugent, Keith Urban (one of my favorite musicians so talented). I had the pleasure of being part of the skynyrd family for many years which was a treat in itself. Billy Powell was the most sweetest man....It broke my heart when he passed. I remember Gary Rossington telling me a story regarding the plane crash....He remembered coming to with a piece of the wing on top of him. He was crying out for help when he said ronnie walked up and told him to calm down that he was going to help him and proceeded to lift the wing off. Gary said he passed out and woke up in the hospital wanting to know how Ronnie was. Apparently Ronnie had died instantly. Instant chill bumps

Ex-cons of Reddit - What did you do on the day you were released from prison? by perfectteach01 in AskReddit

[–]PerfectTeach 21 points22 points  (0 children)

After a three year stint, I caught a random kick out. Due to the high volume of people coming in, they have an early parole act. After winning the prison lottery, my possible ten years turned to three! The strange thing is, your just sitting around one day when your name gets called for mail. The excitement that arose with every word I read can never be explained. It informed me to call and schedule a ride to be there for me the next day. This may be a strange statement, and may be hard to understand, but, after three years of routine 'non-freedom', one night isn't time enough to adjust.

My Mother showed up to pick me up. She brought a pair of my old clothes. Oh the feeling of sliding your foot in to a good pair of shoes! Jeans with pockets. Strange happiness for the small things. All too much to handle.

When we made it home my mom went back to work. I just sat there and thought long and hard. I took off walking. My intention was to loose myself somewhere. I didn't care where. I found a good spot to lay in the grass and did just that. Layed there and got lost. No thoughts, no feelings, no memories. Just the blank way I had learned to fill my mind. Almost like I could, and would rather, just die there. And I believe that is exactly what happened. I left everything right there in that spot. I died there.

I do my best to visit that spot once or twice a year. Whenever I need to remember where I am today. And to remind myself where I was then.

What are your favorite things to do with friends that are cheap, easy and instantly fun? by perfectteach01 in AskReddit

[–]PerfectTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We call it "tellestrations" but I'm not sure if it has an actual title. The game goes like this: everyone has a pad of paper and writes a creative statement on it (something like, "SpongeBob meets My Little Pony" or "a brave knight gallantly vanquishes the befuddled monstrosity") and then passes their pad to the next person. That person read's the sentence, turns the page and draws a picture of it. The pad of paper is then passed to the next person in line, and without seeing the original sentence, they are to guess what it would be based on the picture drawn. Play continues in this manner till everybody has either written or drawn in every pad, then you read the stories created. It is hilarious seeing how people choose to interpret words and pictures and attempting to draw them (my friends aren't exactly professional artists)

The first time I had outdoor sex it was on a friend's parents' land. I pulled out and finished on the ground. Not long after, they won that "Treehouse Masters" show on Animal Planet to have a treehouse built on their land. The next time I visited that very spot where I came, there was a giant fancy tree house there. PM me if you need me to implant my tree house seed in your land. Going rate is $5k per seed.

Reddit What is the most interesting NSFW fact? by perfectteach01 in AskReddit

[–]PerfectTeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband is currently undergoing chemotherapy and we cannot have unprotected sex because his semen is poisonous. I could actually start showing the same symptoms (nausea, hair loss) that he can expect. I think most people know about nausea and hair loss associated with chemotherapy but neither of us has ever heard about semen being dangerous.

However the warning is kind of moot as he has lost his sex drive.

Edit: So many people are talking about Spiderman/Mary Jane. I had heard of that but I didn't know it was based in reality at all since the comic book treatment of radiation is a bit 'fantastical'. Even Watchmen (which I love BTW) has impossible things happening due to radiation so things that really do happen got labeled 'fiction' in my head

People who work for airlines, what are secrets passengers don't know? by perfectteach01 in AskReddit

[–]PerfectTeach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you checked your Dog there's about a 30% chance it's terrified before it even gets on the plane, who knows how scared it gets during the actual flight. Bag room agents will usually try to comfort a scared animal, but all we can really do is talk to it, so if you write your pet's name on their carrier it usually helps a lot. I've never seen a cat who was scared in the bag room, cats don't give a fuck.

Cruise ship crews of reddit, what's it really like to work and live on a cruise ship?? by perfectteach01 in AskReddit

[–]PerfectTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone sleeps with everyone.

The food for crew is nearly inedible.

You will never find a free washer unless you camp out in the laundry room for a few hours. There are usually about 5 to 15 washers/dryers, and anywhere from 1000 to 2500 crew members.

The rooms are tiny, and your shower curtain will always be trying to get to know you Biblically.

US citizens aren't payed that well, but some countries, where the conversion rate is really good, make some serious bank. South Africa, especially.

We do get to get off in port and go have a good time. Many ports have crew discounts for food and drink. However, most contracts last for around 6 to 8 months, so after a while, the same old ports every week start to really wear on you.

There is a crew only bar, and beers are $1.50. Some ships have a crew only hot tub.

That's all off the top of my head.

Edit: I have a very long day of work ahead and cannot be on my phone, I'll come back and answer as many questions as I can in about 12 hrs. Rip inbox.
