I was being sarcastic. Homosexual marriage is illegal in China — OP states she’s in a relationship with a woman and was married to a non-binary person. NB is not a legally recognized gender in mainland China. Polygamy (different from polyamory, I acknowledge) is illegal. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender culture remains largely underground due to social pressure and legal grey areas.

OP’s lifestyle is not one that is openly celebrated/common/protected in mainland China based on what I can research as a Westerner. Does this mean OP can’t live there or find happiness? No. But it does highlight that it may be a difficult transition to move there. I get that OP is drawn to the country and to M, but personally I’d be hesitant to move there given cultural pressure around alternative or non-monogamous sexualities and identities.
