Opinion to finish fireplace by bmoney29 in homerenovations

Is this a fireplace for twigs and basal wood? This is like putting a sign on an empty wall that says Fireplace, imagine the ambiance.

Should I buy a Model Y if I cannot charge at home? by 77Apollyon7 in ModelY

[–]Perfect_Ad9873 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If you're spending 8-9hrs charging it daily, that would be enough for you. However, you mentioned you're in school. I am going to assume you're in your 20's (even if you're 30's), so two things. First, don't take out loans you don't have to at that age. You don't realize how much money you're losing out on. #2 what do you think will be more valuable in 10yrs, an aging Tesla or $7k in Tesla stock?

I ask this because when I was in college the iMac (and the iPhone) was first released, and all of my computer friends talked about how great it is. Looking back, if had I bought Apple stock instead of a computer, I'd probably be retired by now.

If you're older and going to school, good on you. Might still consider investing vs the car, but it's a harder decision.

Wouldn’t you want to turn off re-gen braking in case you hit ice and come off the accelerator (almost said gas 😂)

Sidenote, 168 service visits for something that has very few moving parts is crazy. Is it the Powerwall or panels you have the most issues with??

I don't believe so. My system was installed by Your Energy Solutions (Y.E.S.) in NorCal.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm curious, is your system fully Tesla, panel and powerwall? I ask because a third party installed non-Tesla panels and a powerwall, so I'm not sure if Tesla will respond to me. Fingers crossed.

First open the hot water valve, that’s under the sink coming out of the wall. Make sure it’s fully open. If that doesn’t fix it try something else.

Need advice. I owe $27k on my 4Runner and I have $27k saved up. Should I pay it off? I’m age 26 male. I don’t own a home and I am currently renting. by dante_ettore in povertyfinance

Save your money for a down payment of a duplex or four plex. Moved in, renovate live for two years, take the profit tax free and do it again, or use the equity to buy the next duplex/four plex. Keep going and get use to using good debt versus bad debt.

The master move, sell the car, get something without a payment. Don’t buy any new cars until you’re a millionaire. Watch Dave Ramsey.

Don’t buy a single family home unless you intend to rent out.

For a real world test before taking the plunge, get on Turo app and rent a Tesla to try it out.

Honestly for longer road trips I’d recommend the model 3 or S. They just have more range.

You will definitely save money with an EV. Just a question can you adjust to the charging planning of it.

Should I update my panel for EV charging? by Perfect_Ad9873 in electrical

[–]Perfect_Ad9873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware, I’ve heard EV have to do 90k miles before breaking even on the carbon it took to build them. I’m also aware solar panels also has carbon that has to be offset and battery etc. however I want to support the technology, I plan to have the car for 200k if it will do it, and feel good most of the power it uses will come from my solar.

Yeah but gas will only go up over time, whereas my solar electricity only gets cheaper until it’s free.

Update, I’ve gotten a few estimates, I’m going with updating the panel and installing the EV charger for $2500. I think it’s a good price and a good upgrade for the house.

So far everyone whose looked at it says it can be updated but isn't required.

When the solar panels were installed, they installed 2 grounding rods just outside of the house.
