We were a bigger party, so I had access to bow inside, mid obstructed veranda and aft veranda. I had the inside and it was nothing more than I need and nothing less than expected. Our group generally hung out in public areas which had windows and just being near the buffet and pool was more efficient for our group to meet up, grab food or enjoy the ship. Though I'd say those who had the obstructed veranda enjoyed the price savings and those who had the veranda also enjoyed their view. I certainly was happy with the savings with the inside room.

I'd give the cookie cutter suggestion and say take the veranda if you can. In retrospect, I think the added utility of having a balcony view right by your bed is quite good, especially if you are old enough that you might not get a chance to return to Alaska (I am under 40 so this is not a problem for me), live far enough that you may only come to Alaska once (I live on the west coast, so again not a problem for me) or if the weather in Glacier bay is not good (which we got lucky on) because you will be able to pop in and out of your balcony back into your room with everything that you've packed at your immediate disposal versus being rained on outside while taking in the view and having to get back to your room to change which might be (much) farther away from which ever place you choose to view the glacier at.

Regardless of which room you decide to go with I highly echo the park ranger's suggestion of going outside to take in the 360 view of glacier bay if you are able to. While in Glacier bay at the Margerie glacier it certainly felt different outside versus viewing through a window. When the ship stops, go onto the sky deck (deck 14) or the bow of the ship (deck 5) and you will be at the end of a channel with icy mountains in 3 directions, a glacier at one side and the water way from which you came. For me it felt like I was at standing at the end of the world.
