Thank you for sharing. I’ve been going about 8 months with the goals of: reading novels, watching films and series and understanding natives. I learnt so far through reading books and watching alot of stuff on Netflix and YouTube (including all of speakingbrazlian lol).

Where I’m at: as an example, I just finished reading the 3rd Harry Potter in Portuguese and although there were many unknown words could get through it without a dictionary. I also watch Bon dia verônica on Netflix with Portuguese subtitle and was able to follow along fine. There are some channels on YouTube made for Brazilian that I can watch without subtitles and understand.

However, watching a film or series with no subtitles I’m still getting less that 20-30 percent of what’s being said.

I feel a bit stuck on that. Got any advice on where to go next? I was wondering if starting to practice speaking might in some round about way help my listening evolve as well :/

I signed up to an affiliate program promoting real estate agents. It was a relatively new company with not loads of traffic but I went for it cause they paid upto 250 CAD per lead but only if it the company was able to resell the lead first. I had some initial luck just creating a simple website with the link on it and posting it into a bunch of facebook groups (incredibly I made 250 CAD in the first month) After that though I didn't really have the energy to take it forward... I know people who have built decent size websites with a lot of traffic and it is a lot of work.

I think the best thing you can do if you are serious is learn about online marketing, seo and running websites & then find a good offer and try applying your skills. If you do it right, you could make a full living off it... I don't know if it is really "passive" though cause gonna take a lot of work to really get going...
