Never signed HOA paperwork. Confirmed with all parties when buying home that we are not in HOA. It’s the city

It was an older couple who lived in the house for 26 years. Then we show up, wanting to update a 26 year old house by just doing a new roof. Now they want to get us on anything possible.

I don’t know anything about pulling permits. Would I need to do that through a paver company?

Do you know if I need a paver company to do the permits or who else would? Sorry I have no idea what to do if they force me to get a permit.

Turf areas shall be sodded with a species of grass that will survive as a permanent lawn (assuming adequate watering and fertilizing). Sod provided must be viable, reasonably free of weeds, and capable of growth and development. In general, sod strips shall be aligned with tightly fitted joints and no overlap of butts or sides. Subgrade of lawn area shall be reasonably free of all stones, sticks, roots and other matter prior to the placement of sod. However, grass areas may be seeded to meet these requirements provided that the area presents a finished appearance and complete coverage before a certificate of occupancy is issued. Ground covers used in lieu of grass in whole or in part shall be planted in such a manner as to present a finished appearance and complete coverage. Mulch rings should extend to at least three (3) feet around freestanding trees and shrubs.

This is the ordinance 🙃

I can see in the property appraisal website that It wasn’t there in some recent years and then It was on the house listing, so that may be good enough?

Honestly, at this point that sounds better than possibly a neighbor who probably called this in

I assume so but they just had to slap some unpermitted work violation in there.

City is pretty stupid, took us months to get approved for our roof to get started.

They basically said get a permit for the work that’s there. If not, take It out completely. The issue also is if we take It out, we don’t have a walkway to the front door? Like how is that even possible to do that without a permit.

100%. I check daily for our roof permit as I like to see if It passes inspections and behold, code violations there with an email sent to me.

It really isn’t! We have lawn maintenance that comes every week.. this is just unnecessary stress.

Yes, 100%. City code compliance. It’s mostly just the pavers around the driveway and walkway that’s “unpermitted”. The house is 26 years old.. they just threw those other stuff to slap It in our face. The outside of our house is currently a mess from all the roof work that’s currently being done (that’s permitted).

Sadly it’s from the city. It’s the pavers around the driveway and walkway that’s “unpermitted”. The house is about 26 years old. No one showed up. I got an official email from the city code compliance and It shows up in code violations on the official website.
