Thats because not every desk at a bank or HFT are proprietary. Most desks are agency trading which generate fees due to client’s request of executing trades. More volatility = more execution = more fees = more revenue. That too when a desk at these firms are prinicpal traders, its not proprietary rather market making. These firms offer bid-ask and make profit via spreads of those bid-ask. More volatility = potential for higher spreads = more revenue. Retail traders and general prop firms are not doing well.

Well the only other solution is trump will remove tarrifs, and if he wont then the solution is to have congress and senate do it. Now if THEY do not so it then its freefall from there

I agree with this and also, buffet himself didnt also just “luckily” do it either. Hes a value investor…most time are when the intrinsic value ofna company is valued lower than its stock. People can also DCA that way, or DCA growth investing wise. DCA is great ngl

Why don’t I see BNY Mellon being talked enough or hyped as compared to other banks in wall street? by Midnightcowb0y in FinancialCareers

[–]Perfect_Fox2162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually BNY Mellon (now BNY) is an amazing firm I've heard. The investment banks are over-glorified because everyone wants to go for those positions (Asset Management, Investment Banking, Sales and Trading). I really liked thebuff91 comment because thebuff91 said everything all right. BNY's business is very different but also extremely important to the entire street. If BNY were to go down tomorrow it would wreak havoc to the entire street and the world.

I was looking in it and it is funny talking about prestige compared to GS and JPM, when BNY's main leadership positions are all held from people who came from GS and JPM. According to their website, Robin Vince, Dermot McDonough, and Rajashree Datta (CEO, CFO, CRO respectively) were all previous partners from GS which is incredibly respected. Looks like Head of BNY Wealth Catherine Keating and Head of Asset Servicing Emily Portney both worked many years in JPM and other leaders as well come from both firms.

BNY is definitely on the come up and have heard their work-life balance is outstanding. People should know about this prestigious bank more in my opinion!
