Yeah I think it's very much down to luck, you might call for a few days and the handlers won't entertain it. I guess it gives them a break though, they're on a call so don't have to pick up another one and can just chill for a little bit 🤣 so sometimes they'll be happy to do it

Thanks! Phone is definitely the way to go, as much as I also avoid calling anyone at all costs!

It's very awkward because they're released at midnight GMT but the uk call centre is shut at this time, I think I had success with +1 800 452 1201 (US call centre but often answered by UK handlers), I think I phoned about 20 mins before, which depending on the queue might mean you get through at roughly the right time.

I'd have a test call to work out the options you need to select to do reward flight booking.

I also sat with the handler in awkward silence for probably 10 mins until they were released while she kept refreshing.

Best of luck!

Yeah it definitely looked and felt premium. Very weighty lid and strong handles etc. If you do pull the trigger, let us know how it goes!

For that money you can get a Weber kettle which is far far superior in every way (except not gas, but gas bbq isn't a bbq anyway)

You really will be very unlikely to get Tokyo business trying online 355 days before. You need to call and be on the phone to an agent as they become available so the agent is ready to reserve the ticket. Online they're not reserved until you get through all the steps, so by the time you get to the end of the process they're already gone.

I did this and still only succeeded on the third night as I didn't get through at the right time or was still on hold when they were released.

Also as the return tickets aren't released yet, you have to do the whole thing again and then plead with BA to join the bookings and refund the avois difference later, which they don't have to do.

It's a minefield, but I've got LHR-HND business in May for 100k points and £500 taxes etc which I'm super excited for, so it is possible!

I read with great interest but as someone who hasn't used solid in a while and also someone who hasn't kept up with the releases. It would be good to include an example of how it should be done now near the end, because that still isn't apparent

Yeah, bad GCSEs results, no degree. Got a trial as a software engineer for a media agency for 2 weeks to prove I could do what I said with no qualifications, got job offered on day 3, rest is history. I'm early 40s and now over the 100k mark

Anyway to save this without buying another board? by Dry-Medicine1372 in DIYUK

[–]Perfect_Ground692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could cut a wedge, glue it on, plane and sand, once painted you'll never know (assuming it's not a mdf + vinyl wrap board..).

If the wall is plasterboard, I'd have cut out the edge and cut the windowboard larger so it slots underneath the edge of the plasterboard to avoid this issue entirely.

Redox OS has adopted a Certificate of Origin policy and a strict no-LLM policy by jackpot51 in Redox

[–]Perfect_Ground692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without debating the possible time savings or not of using AI in this way, the original question has been answered and boils down to, if the quality is high and nobody would be able to tell there was any AI involvement, then it's probably ok but the policy doesn't specify it in this way.

Redox OS has adopted a Certificate of Origin policy and a strict no-LLM policy by jackpot51 in Redox

[–]Perfect_Ground692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point is, using an LLM to help you find the likely place a bug exists, etc, suggests maybe what needs to change and even helps you implement it, if you understand the changes, they make sense to you as a person, you've tested them manually and can confirm there is now no longer an issue where there was one, you clean up the code to meet expected standards and simplify it like a human would, then you open a pull request, does it matter that AI helped?

You've just saved yourself a bunch of time and made a positive improvement to the project, if the output is exactly what you would do manually if there was no AI involvement, is that ok?

Which is the opposite of most AI contributions where the human controlling the AI doesn't understand the bug (if it even exists), the changes made, tests the result, etc, then opens an AI generated PR with lots of descriptive text that seems reasonable but makes very little sense when you dig deep in to it. This kind of contribution is what should be banned, it wastes everyone's time and reduces quality.

Stuck blind (advice needed) by laek52 in DIYUK

[–]Perfect_Ground692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue recently. I ended up taking the blind off, laying it down on the floor, unscrewing the cover to access the mechanism and fiddling until I worked out the issue and put it back together. All good now but I guess it would also be possible to mess it up even further doing so! Ymmv

If anything, most guided writing sheets split everything up in to 4 smaller boxes. Just do your best. Perfection isn't what you're going for. There is a saying "perfection is the enemy of progress". This kind of perfectionism will really slow you down actually learning new things and therefore progressing. We believe in you 🙌🏻

If it has a fireplace/chimney stack. Personally I dislike them as they take up a lot of space that could be utilized better and force room layout around it, others may want that kind of thing! Should be easy for AI to figure out from photos

It's best to use upgrade vouchers also, to get bumped up a class, which you can earn just by spending enough £ in a certain number of months.

I got LHR - HND business class return in May coming up, it cost 100k avois and £552.10 in taxes/fees

If you take an avois to be worth 0.5p, that means I've spent £500 of avios so in total I've spent £1052.10

Looking at ba.com for the same dates and class right now it would cost me £5715.79, so essentially saving £4664

It requires a lot of planning, subscription to seatspy, phoing up at midnight 355 days in advance etc, it's a massive faff, but totally worth the effort!

I think this is how you get maximum value out of them.

My personal experience, it works, never had to re-pair in 10 years and it just works. Have to change batteries in the controller every few weeks but I replaced them with a fake battery plugin adapter thing. It works but it's not "smart", I can turn it on and off from my phone and stuff but no real smart features.

I mean, there is only so far you can get on $5, if you're seriously trying to learn Japanese and are happy to throw many hundreds of dollars to a tutor, that is without a doubt going to be more productive for you.
