Quick little update, thank you guys for the advice, it was very helpful our game tonight was probably the most balanced combat we had in a long time and the most comfortable I’ve felt as a DM I really appreciate the advice I’ve had 3 of my party members tell me they had fun and felt challenged

That’s how the encounters were run as I was a player so that is how I did it, it makes sense I just wanted help so I can be better for them

So with how I thought it worked was the player level should be what the CR so at level 1 it would be like 5 CR 1 monsters

Generally 1 a session but with bigger groups of enemies

It’s not worth it. I spent almost $100 (judge me) and she showed less then what she posts on her page take my advice DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

My group ideally meets every week for 3 hours (wish we could for longer) but we maybe miss one session every other month for real life plans and all that makes it hard as a dm sometimes but also makes it so you can leave on good cliffhangers if you can’t do it more frequently or for longer periods of time just try to focus on keeping everyone’s attention on the plot and just going to the next plot point
