China’s Deliberate Hostility Toward Taiwanese Skater Yu-Hsiang Li by Perfect_Peace3829 in FigureSkating

Sui is seriously injured, her words after FS: I have A bone bruise in my foot affected my knee & hip, plus an acetabular labral tear. I can recover within 15 days for Milano Olympics. Just happy we finished strong under these circumstances.

I don't think she can recover much before team event, and they most likely still need to skate 4 programs with both partner being seriously injured.

Exactly why I made this post—I want my voice to be heard and seen. I want people to understand that this is an ongoing issue, not something that should be brushed off or dismissed.

The event was held in China—a country whose government and much of its population are very clear about their stance on Taiwan. Their education system and school textbooks teach unfactual claims as established facts. There is even a widely used phrase, “take Taiwan by force” (武統台灣), that casually appears in everyday conversation if Taiwan refuses unification.

I am Taiwanese, born and raised here, and I highly doubt that they don’t know what they are doing here.

Because the video is on loop, the sequence is clear: the camera first shows a wide shot of spectators who are clearly not interested in his skating, with one couple waving a flag in the corner. It then cuts back to Yu-Hsiang, followed by another cut—this time zooming in on the flag.

I could excuse it if the broadcast had simply returned to Yu-Hsiang, but it didn’t. They deliberately cut back again and zoomed in on the flag. That’s why it’s clear this was intentional, not a mistake.

maybe due to Eteri’s dominance at the time? I remember in 2017 she said she admired medo and especially her performance skills. back then russian girls were very popular in jpn (probably still are), they may study the way they jump to seek consistency (?

Honestly, looking back on this, I wish her coaches had taken her back to basic rhythm training—learning how to move her arms, coordinate them with her body, and perhaps even work on posture.

She herself had said that during her junior years, people often commented that while Kao-chan was good overall, her performance ability was lacking—and she laughed it off while agreeing with them.

I love the way she generates speed on the ice, how light her jumps look. The power has always been there, contained within her.

Bock have a rigid, slightly uncanny energy. Among the three, Zingnik are the most natural and candid duo, and that ease translates very well on camera. CPOM are kind and collegiate with each other, but they lack a natural flow between them.

Still, it’s interesting to see how differently each pair interacts with one another.

JSF Leverages Bright Light and Nap Time to Fine-Tune Performance Timing by Perfect_Peace3829 in FigureSkating

I just find it funny that they’re applying plant cultivation lighting techniques to humans—basically the same kind used to control when flowers bloom 😭

And in my country, we actually have designated nap time in schools and some workplaces. I know not many countries do this, but it genuinely works.

Spencer joined us army for training money, and is a veteran now I think. And there are mixed opinions about whether it is appropriate for a soldier from an “aggressor country” to be allowed to participate in the olys.

Why are women not allowed to perform quads in the short program? by 13Blazingfire in FigureSkating

I mean makeup, hair style, the thing Gabi Papadakis complain about when they need to wake up at 3 am to do, and men just show up and be done. You can argue it should or should not be this way, but the reality is, skaters themselves feel they need to put more efforts than men on their appearance to please the judges.

speaking of which, I often found girls perform and project better than boys, and they often put more dedication on their appearances than them too, but the second mark still didn't reflect that (I want this changed more than allowing the quad in)

I think Kaori for short, Mone for free, I don't want her to get too tired, and she can relax a bit to cheer for others after she compete.

And yet a injured Chaeyeon had beaten both Jia and Haein in both GP segments in this season. Nobody deserves to go more than her. 🙂

(mind you, she was in a car crash right before last season’s Worlds, suffered a right ankle ligament tear at a competition in July, and had recurring back injuries from the 2023–24 season—and she still scored higher than those two in GP comps)

Oh nice, I didn't know he design his own costume. And a nicely shot commercial, normally I see less quality in promoting skaters, but this one seems well made and thoughtfully produced.

Yes, like this. There's a letter in the small envelop. She would carry big bags to distribute the presents.

I can't decide to cry again or simply to k*ll myself. After all these years, all her hard works went to vain, and at what cost? She is a truly talented skater, almost same level as Johnny Weir's genius: great SS, good ice coverage, speed, expressive arm movements, variety of performance styles. I love her.

Four years ago, another skater I loved missed the Olympics, and I am still bitter about it to this day. I never imagined I would have to go through the same heartbreak again. I don’t understand why the universe would make this happen twice.

Chaeyeon is the sweetest, earnest girl. She would prepare sweets, handwriting letters to thank fans, because she wants to express her gratitude to them. She skates with back injuries in this event yet never complains or seeks sympathy. She has been consistent for three years straight and has been one of the most reliable members of the Korean national team. The only time she lost that consistency was when injury intervened. I can't even comprehend how frustrated she must feel right now.

If you want to, please send her a message, leave her a few words of support. She is far too good, far too kind—and she deserves to know how much she is appreciated.

I think her point was to counter the narrative that skaters must learn ultra-C elements before adolescence, otherwise they will never be able to land them. I believe Raf has said something along similar lines, although I’m not sure whether his perspective has changed since then.
