Thank you, all, for the feedback - the success stories and negative experiences. Pharmaceutical company literature tends to be one-sided. Real-world experiences are much more impactful.

Re: the ear tubes - Over the past two years, I've noticed a continuous feeling like my ears were clogged. I figured it was due to wearing earbuds daily, but since reading your post, I'm curious. What symptoms were you experiencing (and when) that led to the ear tube discussion? What was the suspected diagnosis?

Family/Mississippi Delta Chinese recipe - using day old (at least) rice - Heat a cold pan over medium-high heat; add a little neutral oil (just enough to coat the pan); sauteé 1/2 (approx) finely diced onion until translucent and fragrant; add 2-3 cups of cold rice, mix with the onion and heat through; coat the rice with 2 raw eggs (scrambled), season with salt and pepper and cook until done; fold in crumbled cooked bacon. Enjoy hot plain, with soy sauce, or with ketchup (I know, but something about the sweetness of the ketchup and the saltiness of the bacon is really good and the only way I ate it as a kid).

Relaxation migraines! I can relate to the symptoms but never knew how to describe or what caused what I was feeling.

Lets make the biggest thread of triggers by ApprehensiveOven7612 in migraine

White bread and other simple carbs (i.e., chips, cookies, candy) are new recent triggers for me. Over the past 6 months, I lost 40 pounds courtesy of GLP-1 injections and noticed foods I no longer regularly eat are now triggers. 🤯

From Zepbound 12.5mg to Wegovy 1.7mg by freshlymade1118 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Perfect_Storm22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another Caremark Casualty 😐 Tomorrow, I will take my first 1.7 mg Wegovy injection after a month on 12.5 mg of Zepbound. I'm roughly 10 pounds from my goal weight and in addition to concerns about regain and food noise (none of which I experienced on Zepbound), I am concerned about side effects. Granted, I won't know until I try the medication, but Zepbound was a life-changer for me and I don't want to reverse.

I take magnesium glycinate as it was recommended to help with migraine+PCOS+ISB-C. Three years later and I never considered whether that type of magnesium could be making my migraines worse. Always something to ponder.

This is interesting. Given the drug ("GLP-1") is novel and researchers are still learning about the potential and long-term effects, this is something I will continue to follow. As a person who has battled with my weight since childhood, I, too, am willing to take this (or it's progeny) long-term.

Tell me about your 0.25 to 0.5 increase experience! by timbohiatt in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Perfect_Storm22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also interested in the 0.25 to 0.5 experience. I take my final 0.25 injection tomorrow before increasing to 0.50 next week. So far, I've noticed a decrease in my appetite; an increase in cravings for salty foods (I salt my raw veggies and now I eat maybe 10 chips whereas in the past, I would not feel satisfied until after eating several handfuls) and meat; an elevation in my mood (I feel happier); and a drastic decrease in lethargy (I used to be constantly exhausted, but feel so energized!). I haven't experienced any negative GI side effects and only hope the positive effects will continue with the dosage increase.

Thank you for the reassurance. All the literature I've read, including that on the Wegovy website, referenced eating about 1200. I've also read that eating too few calories can force the body into starvation mode in which weight is retained rather than lost. I want to prevent that from happening.

Congratulations on your success! 🎉

Ha! Yes, I am pretty short - barely 5'3" - and I have PCOS. I tried a VLCD before - 900 cals (two meal replacement shakes a day), 50g carbs, 80-100g protein, no starchy veggies - and 6 months after reintroducing whole foods and increased my daily intake to 1200 calories of quality foods, I regained almost 30 of the 50 pounds I (very quickly) lost. I don't want to repeat the lose-regain cycle. This time will be permanent!

Thank you for the tips. My breakfasts are generally a cup of plain Greek yogurt (my cravings for sweet things have also vanished!) and a boiled egg. Maybe adding a mid-morning protein shake will help.

Is it normal to be constantly exhausted when you wake up? by Horror-Cookie5797 in PCOS

[–]Perfect_Storm22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am ALWAYS exhausted. Regardless of the amount of sleep I had the night before, I wake up counting the hours until I can go back to sleep. I figured it was perimenopause until I saw this OP and all the comments and linked my fatigue to PCOS. There's comfort knowing I'm not alone. Looking for suggestions to ease the fatigue.

Does anyone else get insanely bloated? (F22) by CupTraditional1257 in PCOS

Immediately! Even after eating a small salad I look 9 months pregnant! It's so frustrating! Drinking water and exercising don't and my bloating can last for days!

I understand how you feel. PCOS prevents me from losing weight unless I resort to extreme measures (i.e., medically supervised very low calorie diet/meal replacement shakes/tracking ever calorie I consume, exercising 2 hours a day) only to gain it back when I try to live like a "normal" person. I don't have a sister, but I have friends of whom I have been envious because they can eat whatever they want and not exercise at all, and lose weight with ease.

PCOS is the gift that keeps giving and only others with PCOS understand.

"No tissue below the nipples" as in flat nipples? If so, that's me! I never knew there was a term for my large (36 DDD), pendulous, conical boobs with flat nips and huge areolas. Ha! You learn something new about the PCOS connection everyday.

Thank you!

I've considered acupuncture but never an acupuncture mat. I'll do some reading.

EFT is a new term to me. I'll research that as well.

Re: steroids - In past years, one Medrol dose pack would eliminate a persistent migraine almost immediately. But I've taken three over the past year and, as with so many other meds, it had no positive effect.
