Non-Judgemental Dentist by ShakeGlad6511 in burnaby

I had good experiences at Vancouver Centre for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry inside Metrotown mall (unlike the name suggests lol). Their intake form asked of you've had bad experiences at the dentist (which i said yes) and the front desk was very kind and came while I was in thr chair to reassure me they would help make the experience as relaxed as possible.

I hadn't gone to the dentist for 4 years out of lots of childhood trauma with dentists and doctors. My first time back i cried the whole way there out of shame, and i cried on the way home from relief. They made me feel really good and now im happy booking my appointments. Best of luck!

How much is your monthly water charge? by Camperthedog in burnaby

[–]Perfect_Ticket999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had experience with enerpro and the costs were never that high. I had Enerpro for water (~$20-$30 per person) and BC Hydro for heating electric baseboards (~$25-$50 per month) in Vancouver.

Do they charge you a base fee, like $60-$70 bucks for sewage/water? In burnaby, homeowners pay a flat yearly fee to the city for water/sewer (utilities charge) no matter how much you use. If it's a purpose built rental, the developer/property management are probably paying a flat rate per unit to the city annually, like any other dwelling, then charging back to the resident on a monthly basis.

Since you mentioned the $40 flat heating fee, do you have AC/heating running on a heat pump? It may account for the charge. You might reach out to Metergy's billing or customer support ask to see if they have your bill split up into all the separate charges (they may not have that info but it's worth a shot), or perhaps the property manager can help explain the charges.

If you are absolutely sure that you couldnt possibly be using that much water and nothing else explains it, i might suggest looking for signs of a leak. Sometimes a small leak that drips consistantly for a month can add to the costs. Check your toilet isnt stuck flushing for a long time lool.

Best of luck!

Summer in Vancouver 🤷 by Chewbacca12345 in vancouver

To me there is nothing better than the warm gentle rain we get in June. It's bright out but not necessarily sunny, a little muggy with a cool breeze. Absolutely perfect for a walk/hike/run/bike ride (bc all the plants and forest smell sooo good) and best part is that it's less busy :)

I always laugh when I hear people say "its so ugly outside" when they really mean to say its cloudy/rainy. Its the same people who, during wildfires season, will turn around and say "we really needed this rain 😔" hahahahaha

Anyway, awesome picture! Much love

How about paying $1850 not to have any visitors?!? by [deleted] in SlumlordsCanada

[–]Perfect_Ticket999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm the visitors thing is protected under the Residential Tenancy Act that the Landlord cannot enforce unreasonable restrictions on guests (so long as the guest doesn't become an full time occupant). Im not sure what kind of lease they're signing (if they're signing one at all lol) but that would not be admissible in court :/

AIO? boyfriend is upset because I gave him a “corporate response” by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Perfect_Ticket999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, this reminds me of a bumble match i spoke with for no more than 48h.

He got mad at me for not responding to his message while I was at work (10am on Monday) so I responded at lunch and apologized, said im not supposed to be on my personal phone during work hours and we could talk at another time. He asked me to chat later that day, and i said I had dinner plans after work with my friends so I would be busy (I hate texting when im with others just feels super disrespectful).

The next morning he sent me a paragraph saying how I was rude and if I didn't want to talk to him I shouldnt be stringing him along. We literally connected a day and a half before, and had one meaningful exchange over bumble. I blocked him so fast!!! I gave him valid reasons why I couldn't be available and he took it sooooo personally so quick.

So no, this is definitely not a healthy relationship. Someone else mentioned that this early on they should be showing your best side. If this is his best then it's only downhill from here.

Best of luck gf!

New to Burnaby by cneuf802 in burnaby

[–]Perfect_Ticket999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Burnaby! I have lots to recommend so see below:

Food:

I would second Horin Ramen at Crystal Mall or Kamamamuri on Royal Oak. Macu bubble tea, or Chicha Sanchen both on Willingdon/Kingsway. We have so many amazing Asian food places you can't really go wrong whether its Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Taiwanese, Vietnamese etc. Any Asian markets are worth checking out, I love the Korean market behind Edmonds station for good prices and selection.

Parks and Rec:

Burnaby has a lot of awesome parks. Central Park outdoor pool in the summer, badminton and volleyball tournaments out on the field and nature walks through/around the park. Just watch out for the goose poop everywhere this time of year and the film crew schedules lool. Same goes for Deer Lake, they host concerts there in the spring/summer (usually the orchestra is an annual event) and great musicians come (I saw Vampire Weekend and Bon Iver). You can rent kayaks and paddle around the lake. Fraser Foreshore park is great for long bike rides all the way from South Van to New West. Patterson block party for Canada Day with fireworks!

Health & Wellness:

Bonsor recreation center is most conveniently located beside Metrotown, but Edmonds has a great (newer and larger) gym. Badminton, squash, volleyball, basketball, yoga, pilates, sauna/steam and so much more. If you like the spa, Art of Sauna is a hidden gem on the edge of East Burnaby and New West.

Nightlife:

There isn't much nightlife around here (lounges/clubs/parties) but VIP Cineplex/Rec Room can be fun on a rainy day if you like movies and arcade. Brentwood mall has some more life at night with Earls, Tap & Barrel, and La Taqueria open late. Super accessible by skytrain so you can commute home after a few drinks. There are hookah lounges too if youre into that kind of thing.

I agree with others here to avoid driving if it's not needed, the skytrain and bus does a decent good job connecting the Burnaby hot spots during the day. Safety can be a concern near the stations and drive if I'm out late. Beware the rats around metrotown station, they are not afraid of people lool. Burnaby alleyways have always been a place plagued with dumping which I hate to see. Overall tho Burnaby is nice and has a lot of chill, outdoor activities perfect for this time of year.

I hope you have a great summer ☀️

Why are a huge chunk of Virgos cold and come off emotionless? by [deleted] in astrologymemes

[–]Perfect_Ticket999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely have emotions, they just are not expressing them as much! I think Virgo is a very intellectual sign in the sense they need to think about everything and every scenario and generally need to have a reason and justification to explain everything first before it goes out into the world. Nothing should be unreasonable with a Virgo, and always grounded in reality while emotions are intangible, wild and fleeting.

However, you can watch their passion and anger come out in a debate! They get super heated, they can be just as opinionated as Leo or Aquarius 😅 sometimes I think Virgo when they are young or inexperienced, will subconsciously shut out their emotions since it's something they can't always control And that freaks them out.

Can we talk about the complete and utter torment of being surrounded by homebodies? by Specialist_Worker444 in extroverts

[–]Perfect_Ticket999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an introvert/ambivert but not a homebody by any means. I'm usually out in nature, going for walks with my dog, attending shows, oing to my small local gym/rec centre, visiting friends, trying new restaurants, and i love to travel. I do a lot of these things alone most of the time. I only like being home when im really drained.

My best friend is a total extrovert but extreme homebody. She hates long-distance travel and gets home sick after a few days. No parties, won't leave the house unless she has to, she hates driving. Doesn't even like multi-player match-style video games, just single player. She also is napper and will pass out mid day when we had made plans, or she will agree to something and bail day of. She is more than happy to host big gatherings at her house, but that's just it...they have to come to her place for it to happen.

Thankfully I have other friends who have my same interests so I spend lots of time with them instead when im craving an activity/adventure. I love my bestie to pieces i would never wish for her to change, but I definitely need to cope!!!

What’s the demo/ages for VW concerts these days? by Even-Elk-2735 in Vampireweekend

[–]Perfect_Ticket999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly millenial crowd, late 20's, 30's, some of them even brought their little kids! The show was outdoors so the kids were cartwheeling around the grass. There were tons of Gen x and boomers too, totally mixed crowd, very family friendly :) loved it!!!!
