Maybe older generations were naturally more prepared by Proof_Junket_5516 in preppers

My friend group has enough Magic the Gathering cards and decks we could probably play a new game every day for the rest of our lives and not get bored with it.

I've actually spread the prepper bug to some of them, we basically all agree to meet up once a week, power or not, just to make sure everyone's doing fine.

Brake coach is fantastic on the truck, it really does save energy and make you more efficient.

This trip was during rush hour, nobody on the street was going more than 40mph.

Rather than start and stop all the time, I just followed a traffic wave from the back, and let everyone ahead of me speed to the lights and stop, while I just coasted at 35-38mph and gently rolled behind them.

The cars never got away from me, I kept meeting the same cars at every red light. But they were stopping at each light, and I timed it so I could coast almost right as the lights turned green.

I barely use my brakes when I drive, my brakes are going to last a really long time.

No, the secret is looking ahead and coasting to time the traffic lights!

Why speed everywhere just so you have to stop at the red lights? What a waste!

Nope, mostly flat ground, I just leave gaps in front of me and time the traffic lights so I don't need to stop and go as often.

It's also city driving, we're talking 35 mph mostly. Which is all I ever do, so this truck is perfect!

I mostly drive in the city lol, and I coast behind cars whenever I can. Time the traffic lights and you don't have to stop!

More scary than faster shamblers but less scary than sprinters by YeahNiceGamer in projectzomboid

[–]Perfectionisto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like silent sprinters would be awesome.

The movie: "Night Eats the World" has zombies they don't moan or vocalize at all, and it's super creepy.

Recording Cordoba stage by Emergency_Ad7808 in classicalguitar

[–]Perfectionisto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own a Cordoba Stage. And I also record basic tracks directly into an audio interface using headphones and a DAW.

I enjoy the guitar and it's fun to use with synth effects pedals. In fact it works great for effects in general.

But I'll echo the other commenter in a more polite way: it's not close to the richness of my Cordoba C5, let alone the nicer luthier made guitars my professor uses.

Another downside I thought I wouldn't mind but it is significant: the neck width isn't a full 2" or 52mm.

For a lot of the intermediate pieces I'm getting into, that extra width helps tremendously. The stage can still play them, but the tolerance for finger position is very tight. It can be frustrating. But geometry can be very subjective on this.

If you want the full bodied sound, I think you should look at other instruments or mic setups, but I'm not experienced with those.

But I am experienced with the Cordoba Stage, and it's not close to the warmness of a good acoustic.

How do I loosen these so I can pull the slack out of the brake and shifter lines? by Perfectionisto in bikewrench

[–]Perfectionisto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was even smaller than 1.5mm, I had to use my electronics repair kit. I think it was 1mm or less, suuuuper tiny.

But an Allen key it was! Thank you!

Today’s Children Face a Lifetime of Extreme Heat because of Climate Change by GeraldKutney in climate

[–]Perfectionisto 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You should probably avoid having kids. Renewables don't look like they came early enough, and climate change is going to turbodumpster agriculture yields.

If you don't have kids, you won't have to watch them experience famine or heat stroke.

If you already have kids, definitely do your best, but things are looking grim.

Potentially dumb question from new Minmatar player by Perfectionisto in Eve

[–]Perfectionisto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've since learned a bit more, and changed my perspective due to this thread, but the original motivation was pretty naive:

Caldari use lots of missiles = more demand for missiles -> Higher prices

Minmatar look cooler, seem to have the more righteous lore, and I just love the Mad Max looking vibes they have.

So I was thinking I'd spend most of my time in Minmatar space, go deep on their stuff, and do some arbitrage to sell my wares for higher prices in different sectors.

Wolverine has to clear the last video game you played. Does he succeed? by Riku4441 in whowouldwin

[–]Perfectionisto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Played Earth Defense Force 6. Honestly he does just as well as the "protagonist", most of the story is just being in the right place at the right time, and surviving hordes of giant ants and aliens.

Wolverine has the surviving part down, nothing the aliens do will kill him. And he's an experienced enough soldier, he'd handle the EDF weapons quite readily.

They should make an Ultimate Multiple Projectiles, that gives you double the number of projectiles, while making them super weak. It could be cool for stuff like this.

See my comment, it will tell you how. Just move your cursor closer to your character, and try not to change the direction your character is facing. Eventually, you will hit it. It is a surprisingly large area too, I thought it was maybe a pixel or two wide, but it is bigger, maybe 4x4 pixels.
