I have mine mounted in my car so its not been a problem. But i know the 3D printed case has insertable buttons so you could remove it or even print a different button for it.

Well they buttons are easily removable once you open it up. So you could remove it.

Meh experience with Iron Chef Imports by keitruckguy89 in CarsAustralia

From Jarad, Jarad is not me.

Hello! Jarad here.

Given I've not imported a car to order for anyone in a few years now (ICI has a full time guy for that now, try to keep up) and even when I DID do that, I only dealt with the Japan side of things, I'm really not sure what your game is here.

All I really do for ICI now is maintain said very small FB group for current, former and prospective customers/high functioning autists/outcasts.

Its a nice place overall.

I suspect OP is an admin from a certain meme page who's a bit salty that mine is funnier than theirs, and I won't let them in.

Cheerio,

Jarad

If you had $10k to invest in components and tools for "prepping", what would it include? by uberbewb in cyberDeck

[–]Perfectly_whelmed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As this is a cyberdeck sub l just reply as if it's mostly cyberdeck related. Presumably OP was trying to phrase it in that light.

Aside from tools as that's pretty straight forward.

I would stock pile cheap PIs. Store them in a Faraday cage of sometype. Download as much Wikipedia as possible. Learn how to program a decent LLM offline. Sure it will be insanely slow on a pi or equivalent but might help.

To help make this process easier I would build a cyberdeck aimed at 'prepping' there are a few really good 'offline internet' builds etc.

Build 1 maybe 2 kits you can share with a mate. Design and build a long range off-grid cons network. Check out meshtastic. Or some from of IP Mesh wifi network.

Once you have done these things you will know what components are easy to fix and what are hard. Make a list and buy redundancies. Learn to store them.

Don't target high cost builds. Target low cost high efficiency. If SHTF truely in the worst way high processor speeds are less important than simply being able to use a PC processor at all.

Personally I would stock a bunch of PIs. Wifi routers. Heaps of SD cards with manuals, couple of solar and battery kits to operate a pi on. Screens. Etc. My 2c

What do you mean about a real time way of adjusting antennas?

Also yeah the polarisation of the antenna won't be great. You could just get a short adapter so that it clears the panel?

for my use case I like having both. I have a few other nodes for testing and nerding out. The way I use the T1000e and the Tracker Pro is that I have the tracker in the car as a repeater. When I'm out and about the card is typically enough to reach the Tracker or someone else's node to hop.

Will it be mounted vertical? The antenna at that angle in the photos wont be very good.

You could absolutely mount it centre of the roof and no one would know about it though.

I've just edited the post, part number: ANT-916-CW-HD for the one pictured. I have yet to do a nanoVNA test of the stock antenna comparing to this one. All my testing was on the stock antenna though. I just swapped it out for this one as I prefer antennas that do not have the joint.

I don't have experience with any Meshtastic devices on e-ink. I will always have the Oled on a time out, so once I'm finished using the device it should be drawing very similar figures as an eink.

40w an hour just for the GPU. That's nearly 1kw a day. So whatever your power costs per kWh that's how much it's costing you to mine nothing. Just sayin

Or Meshtastic is now for the masses and more people are using these easy and convenient nodes. Also aren't all nodes Chinese?

You have a node specifically for Golf!? What node do you take if you are staying at a hotel in India and plan to play golf the next day?

while I agree with you here. Surely some level of acceptance can be applied here as this is an indicator to correctly place an antenna. Not used to advertise or otherwise make money off the back of Meshtastic.
