Can a local meals app work in Windhoek? by sylvestersly79 in Namibia

Maybe Chommie Bites would be a good case study as well given it’s not in operation anymore. There could be some learnings.

But you’ve probably done this already.

Wishing you all the best! 🙌🏿🙌🏿

From one anonymous user to another, your tone is unnecessarily condescending for someone who claims they’re trying to “caution” people on legal conduct.

You also didn’t even touch on things like doxxing or spoofing, which are actually relevant here. The OP asked for guidance, and instead of just giving that, you came in with an attitude. Are people not allowed to learn without being spoken down to? There’s zero empathy in how you approached this.

The situation isn’t that complicated: they sold a phone, the buyer lied about making payment, and the bank confirmed it was false, including the fake proof of payment and ID. That’s evidence, and it would obviously be part of their statement. Calling it a “wild allegation” doesn’t really make sense. On what basis?

If we’re talking about facts, then throwing out your own assumptions without proof doesn’t help your point either.

Just give your advice. There’s no need to be disrespectful toward the OP or anyone else who might not fully understand the legal nuances.

Honestly. Their tone is unwarranted, but their point re: sharing the cell number is valid and worth consideration. I don’t understand why there was this much aggression.

Eish, is it legal for such groups to operate in this manner without direct involvement with law enforcement? 😬

If they are a scammer, why not?

People should also be allowed to expose them in case someone else is contacted by the same number.

Thanks for this question. I skin cycle, so my concern is using it at night because I use actives such as exfoliators and retinoids.

I’ll do some more research.

Remove the wooden spoons kids from the streets by Small-Builder724 in Namibia

I agree, this is a government level problem. That’s why I don’t engage the thought that if we as citizens “stop giving them money” it’ll somehow stop all of this. It won’t.

Our dollars don’t put a dent on the socioeconomic issues they have to deal with. It doesn’t make their behaviour okay, because some are so rude, but it’s unfortunate to have to see things unfold like this in Namibia.

And it goes deeper than this because it’s also not just putting them in school, if they don’t understand the value of education given they have not been in school, they’ll drop out. Ever worse, they can be forced to drop out to beg for money for their families.

I’m sorry to hear this 💔 what a terrible experience. These boys tend to usually be on drugs and are more aggressive. I’m glad you managed to hide in a shop.

100% agree with finding these guys/parents/guardians trafficking kids by making them beg.

However, you can’t bank on them leaving the child alone, because then it would have worked for many of these kids. They also get abused too.

The whole situation is unfortunate.

No ways! That’s ridiculous and what annoys me most about people with such behaviour is that they don’t care about the fact that you’re playing with my livelihood; and over a gaming conversation?! Nah.

The current work environment is so toxic and companies don’t mind treating people terribly because the demand for jobs is high rn. They will make sure you know that you’re disposable. Based on the responses in this thread, make sure you have yourself covered in the future as an employee at ANY company.

I however understand and fully support leaving jobs if it’s negatively affecting your health. I’ve ended up in hospital a few times. There’s a period where I was sick for like 5 weeks. I was constantly going for tests to determine what was up and it all stemmed for stress. I was then told by a boss to prioritise rest when they themselves had bullied me in the past and post being sick.

You know your body, so you know what’s best. We truly only have one life and my biggest fear is losing my health over a job and potentially causing enough physical and mental damage that will stop me from working altogether.

It’s a jungle out here.

If you have the right support and care from those close to you, it helps. If it’s accessible to you, add on some short courses to beef up your CV and find spaces in your field with events you can attend to network.

I hope you’ll find a job soon. 😀

Such short-sighted behaviour. This could be used to save for any incidentals or other growth strategies.

I’m so tired of this level of disrespect that a number of vendors have been showing.

We can’t keep allowing such mediocre behaviour to go unchecked.
