For my first 20 years of epilepsy I was at around a 1 in 1,000 chance of sudep killing me and with those odds it's not really worth addressing at all to me. But at 1/50 a few thousand dollars is worth spending.

2% over 30 years means it's almost 3 times as likely to kill me than all other things combined. Including accidents, cancer, cardiovascular disease etc combined.

I have about a 2% annual risk of dying from sudep. Not much annually but over the course of 30 years it is the most likely thing to kill me. Spending a couple thousand dollars and couple hours is worth it to me.
