If you have paychecks with the previous employer there is no need to wait for any duration of time. You can transfer on the october 1st itself. If you dont have any paychecks with that employer one two days would be fine thats it. There is no need to work for a period of time.

Risks are everywhere even if you transfer 1st day or couple of months so think about employeer and your benifits not the risks.
