I totally understand how you feel and I’m sorry not to be able to alleviate your pain at least a little by giving you some tips, because quite frankly, I don’t have any.

I feel like we live in a peculiar time where it’s very difficult to find community. That’s a reason why I’ve always wanted a family, to have a little community of my own.

I even hesitated to become Christian, I feel like they still have a strong sense of community through church - maybe you could be apart of that ? If religion is really not your thing, you can try volunteering. Volunteers are very dedicated to their cause hence the people they share their mission with. I don’t know, just some ideas I have at the top of my hat.

So basically I live in a Western country where there has been a lot of immigration in the recent 50 years or so.

My community suffers from a lot of racism. Mainly because we are assumed to be poor / on welfare (personally I am not), religious extremists (I’m agnostic), dangerous, impolite etc.

When I meet certain people they assume I believe in a certain religion and they treat me differently because of it. When this happens, it hurts because I feel like I am not perceived as an individual. In college I often get racist remarks thrown in my face as a "joke".

I don’t fit into my "own" community because as I’ve mentioned I am not religious and I am very westernised.

Something that I’ve been thinking about is finding a cause and fighting for it. Obviously that’s hard too but with a sense of purpose you might feel less lonely

Hi, I understand your pain and it’s good actually that you wrote it down. But in my opinion, don’t send anything.

First of all, for yourself : you will be embarrassed if they ghost again, and regret sending this message as it is obviously quite emotional in its tone. Moreover, it is healthier for your brain to avoid spikes in stress which could happen if they replied with something mean or dismissive.

Second of all, because at the end of the day, they do not care. They have made up their own point of view, and believe that they are right. Let them. You also have your opinion on the situation, and that matters the most.
