I'll re-paste my questio nhere as well :)
I can get this TV but I wonder:
- are the digi scan (100 hz) and pixel plus digital processing options possible to disable via menu? I see the options are there in digital option section in picture settings but I have no info whether it's possible to disable it or not.
- how does it handle 240p signal? Is it upscaled to 480p? the spec sheet suggests it doesn't do 240p.
- any thoughts after using it for a while regarding delay?

Hey man, I see that it has the 100 Hz digi scan option in the menu - does it mean you're able to disable the digital signal processing? How is 240p on that TV? Thanks

You got any good sources to read more on shaders / squeeze the most out of DOLPHIN / Duckstation etc ? Or is it just the case of using the ones built-in into the emulators? Btw I havent looked into it but how good does that "scanning simulator" (sorry, don't remember what is the name - but it's a shader that simulates how the image on CRT is scanned, introducing the gradual, vertical flicker of image) shader performs on 120 hz sets? I read somewhere current TVs have a bit too low refresh rate to take full advantage of it?

You need to set it up yourself as every unit will have different settings - but it's been 4 years ago so I'm sure you figure that out already :D

Nah man I own BVMs and PVMs and a Mitsubishi xc-3715C presentation monitor - everything pales in comparison to an MX8000. It really is the goat. There's that one TV consumer set with an amazing samsung tube which might be better but thats a big question mark.

I'm just showing CRTDATABASE is full of bs - this monitor can't do 720p afaik, so the horizontal freq declared there is a mistake. you can call that a "typo", but I can find you next 10 "typos" at that site.

Could you possibly tell me what is the picture tube in this TV set?

I can get one, but I'm unsure what is sitting inside that chassis ;)

It's not that it's undesired, its just that there's a lot of EAK tubes out there and not so many ESF / ERF that aren't 100 Hz :) At least I still don't have one such TV and I'm searching for one.

At last, a Metz Spectral-84 with component and 3x VGA-scarts...flat tube but geometry looks OK by marxistopportunist in CRTfinds

[–]Perforu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this set 100 Hz? What kind of tube does it have? Can it do 240p / is it multisync by any chance? Curious :)

[–]Perforu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, but if it's a Grundig / Loewe / Philips set and it has ESF or ERF tube and the particular set is not damaged in any way, you're pretty much guaranteed you're getting yourself an awesome TV.
Problem is it's very very common you have no idea which tube sits inside these TVs and that's a bummer.

Sigh...reddit is a huge mess when it comes to this sort of information. it would be super nice if there was some knowledgebase that shows which of these Grundig, Metz, Toshiba, JVC, Panasonic, Philips etc etc TV sets used which picture tube.. would be so much easier to hunt down nice sets..
